The Czech Republic is rightfully considered one of the founders passenger aviation in Europe, because first civil airport Prague - Kbely was opened here in 1919, almost a century ago. But by the beginning of the 30s. he ceased to cope with the growing passenger traffic, so the management decided to build a second air terminal - in Ruzyne. It was commissioned in 1937 and received pan-European recognition in the same year. On World Exhibition in Paris, he received a gold medal for technical and architectural solutions in the design and construction of an airline complex. The laurels went to the Czech engineer A. Benes, who created the project for this airport in Prague.

After World War II, interest in Prague grew, and passenger traffic at the airports of the Czech capital increased. After the Czech Republic was admitted to the EU in 2004, a large-scale reconstruction and modernization was carried out in Ruzyn, which allowed it to win the highest award of the World Airport Awards as the best airport in Eastern and Central Europe in 2007.

In order to get to the Czech Republic, you need to apply for a Schengen visa. Recently, the Prague airfield has become a very convenient connecting point for flights to other cities and countries. In this regard, the question arises: "Is it possible to visit this wonderful city with a long wait for a transfer?"

You can walk around the city if you have a Schengen visa. But here you should keep a close eye on the time and arrive at the airport at least an hour before boarding the plane.

Long-term docking is a very rare thing for Vaclav Havel's air pier. Usually, the transfer does not take more than one hour. But even if this happens, and the passenger does not have a Schengen visa, he is prohibited from entering the city. It should only be in a special transit area.
