Above it was said that there is always a lot of snow for almost 5 months a year. But! Objectively. The climate in here is peculiar. This is already the second trip to this region and the weather was absolutely the same despite the fact that we traveled in different months. I do not exclude that this is my personal luck, but nevertheless. So the lower stations are located at an altitude of about 1,000 meters and there is warm - about +2. At the top station of Mount Hopok (2,024 m), a strong wind is always blowing (which blows all the snow), so such that the gondola shakes not for childish and very often the pass is closed. And it means that you can ride you can "stronger" only one of the slopes of the mountain, and, therefore, in the high season - stand in the queues on the lift.
For myself, I concluded that it was rather a weekend resort (since it is located very close to the autobahn) and the Great Weather Lucky. So about all the apart.
How to breed from Kiev to the ski resort is clear by car.
We decided to go to clear for 2 days - Subota and Sunday on December 10 and 11, 2016. Training from Kiev at 13 o'clock December 9th. All the way (1 100 km) We did not very quickly, mostly because of the ice on the pass, we took customs from us, 30 minutes and already at 3 o'clock in the morning we were in Demänovska Dolina. Do not forget to buy the Slovak Vignette (fee for the road) at any refueling - the minimum term for which it is offered - 10 days and costs 10 euros.

There are several rental items. Some right under the lifts - others just below near the parking lot. The cost is different by 30-40%. At the same time, the quality of skis and burgards is almost the same. Ask at the hotel - if they have an agreement with rolling on discounts. In our case, it saved 10%. Clear, low tatras, Slovakia. What I liked.
Two days was sunny weather with small clouds. Types opened simply mischievous. Just for the sake of these species, it is worth going on a day or two. Winter transport we still have one - the car. Because for a family of 4 people - it is all more economical than flying on the plane and rent a car in place. Without wheels at ski resorts, it is possible to rest, of course, but you need to do it right on the slopes, and accommodation is worth a lot of money. You can still afford it yourself, but you have to get out with children. I traveled to Slovakia for 14 hours of clean driving, with a couple of stops and dinner arrived at 21:30.
Choice of housing
The next item is a choice of place to stay. We have not been resting for a long time in steep hotels, as you can make it possible to afford only until children have 4 years old and they do not need to pay extra for them. Initially, it was customized for rent apartments with a separate bedroom, and found themselves in a private house 🙂 Rent of our house cost us 530 euros for 8 nights, but it provided 8 beds, two toilets and one shower cabin. Great option for family travel!
As for the choice of housing, you can select three areas of accommodation in the resort is clear.
The most expensive zone is accommodation on the slopes. We did not even consider it. There are few hotels, family numbers are not, and if there is, all in the same room for space money. But, if you are without a car and with money, you can quite live right next to the lifts. Fortunately do not lose anything. In Liptovsky, Mikulasha do absolutely nothing to do, and in the water park "Tatralandia" can be reached by bus that regularly run throughout the day.
The second zone is located at the entrance to the mountain in the Demyan Valley (on the map locality Pavcina Lehota). Along Total Lift (about 10 km) There are hotels, apartments and guest Houses. The choice is very big and, apparently, much more than offers. Perhaps it makes sense to look for airbnb, as there are more private owners there. The choice of places is more than sufficient.
Cons are obvious:
- not cheap,
- it is difficult to find large apartments at an adequate price,
- there are no large stores, but in private closure tourist.
And finally, the third zone is Liptovsky Mikulas. Pretty stretched city, where there is some kind of non-cereal life. But for tourists are interesting in essence only two points: shopping center Tesco and Water Park "Tatralandia", where you can return yourself lost on the mountain slopes 🙂 housing prices in Liptovsky Mikulas are much lower than next to the slope, because most of this is either the private sector or apartments. There were no hotels in the city, but they probably have. We chose accommodation in Ilanovo, which is a 4-minute drive by car from the city center. In the city I would recommend accommodation only with my own transport. Without it, it is better to settle in the second zone.
Skype
I'll start with the fact that I was originally unpleasantly surprised by Skype prices, which are much more expensive than in neighboring Poland. But it is cheaper than in Austria or Italy. So you did not have to choose. Not in Bulgaria to go by car 🙂
It turned out that we do not know how to ride any damn, because at the sight of the first real descent on the blue trace - we drowned 🙂 with fear, everyone fell and even managed to get the knee injury. Girls decided to go through all the complex areas with skis in their hands, and the male half with the grief in half went on skis. As it turned out, then, on the fifth route there are several sites that cannot be called steep. Something among the red and blue route. But the difficulty was rather in traffic that reigned on Sunday on the slopes.
In short, we decided not to joke with my knee and decided that for the first time adrenaline is enough. Left skiing in the car and went to explore route №10. Seeing that there are many gentle segments - we were delighted and decided that we would only ride there.
Day second (school skill)
On the second day they spoil out, it turns out there are other slopes. Since Travelin's knee was in an acute condition, we decided to go on the track in Zavazna Poruba. Here we realized that I had to first come here and tighten the skills, and then break into the mountains.
In fact, there is a rather long gentle-e-learning slope with the possibility of complication to any level. The most pleasant thing is that the lift prices are two times lower than in clear. As it turned out - prices in the low tatras are artificially overestimated, and small centers seem to work for local.
Children were happy to ride a text, and the folder tried to learn how to turn on the sharper slope (with a different share of success).
In short, the day flew unnoticed.
Third day (route number 10)
On this track, we came with confidence that we will conquer her. So it turned out ... But only in children 🙂 the parents could not overcome the track without at least one fall.
The track is actually very easy with two complicated (for green newcomers) places. First you need to go through a rotation on the slope of 180 degrees, and then turn 90 degrees to a piece of the Red Track (10a). The difficulty adds that by noon, the track in complex areas of orders is broken and have to go around or cut into a heap of snow that are stuffed when braking cool skiers.
Fourth day (acquaintance with the track number 13 and lifting on the hop)
On the fourth day, we decided to check the track of the "damn dozen", but after two congresses they realized that they turned it out and we were not interested in direct ride. This route is well suited for training, but it is very popular and here you always have to stand in line with the lift (10-15 minutes). On other lifts, everything goes much cheerful.
By the way, the blue route number 13 is the only one, where evening riding in artificial lighting is underway. We just lacked forces and time to experience what it is for yourself.
After pokatushek at the text, it was decided to move into the storming of the track number 10, but the result remained the same. Children rode without falling and without fear, Travelin overcame only one turn 180 degrees, and I continued to fall on the place of a joint with a red section 🙂
Having attacked enough, they decided to leave skis in the car and climb the hopes, offering stunning views of the low tatras.
Fifth day (the conquest of the route number 5)
Having gained experience and screaming "Banzai", I still managed to drag the family to the "terrible" track number 5. And about the miracle! From the first time, everything went down without special adventures. At this point, we all understood that all the same could now call themselves as a ski family and we can ride them.
After a couple of training descents, they rose to the top plot of this route, but there again came "reinsurance" moment, because the beginning passes along the canopy of the red slope. Having calmed down and exhaling, all the same goes went down and shoved to Niza himself, sometimes stopping to wait each other and translate the spirit.
If I were alone, I would certainly ride the full track. But I can understand the children who were scary in some places. Therefore, we did not rolle more complete route, limited to its lower part.
Top Point 5 Route Sixth Day (last)
The last day in the mountains we decided to ride on all our routes, and for me it was personally important not to rule on the "top ten". Everything worked out! For the whole day, only 2 falls were recorded for the whole family.
Complete "Family Powders - 2017" wanted descent from the very beginning of the fifth route, but after 7 descents, there was simply no strength left for another lift. And ride against the background of fatigue and trembling legs - not the good idea.
Seventh Day (Demenovskaya Cave)
On the last day we decided to see the main local attraction - the Demenovskaya cave. Her passage in the group takes a little more than an hour. Impressions are very interesting, but I would not say that without visiting you, you will miss something serious in your life (especially if there were already in such caves). Children were interested, but objectively lacked language support in Russian or English.
