Switzerland

Switzerland has a big advantage over other European countries - in late December and January there is almost always snow (at least in the mountains). Real, furry, lying in large snowdrifts along the streets and houses.

If you want to catch the holiday directly, it is better to go to Switzerland for Christmas, since the New Year is practically not celebrated in this country. For noisy festivities and festive fun you should choose one of major cities - Christmas markets are held there, sweets and souvenirs are sold.

If you want peace, you should choose one of ski resorts: celebrations there are not so large-scale, but there is an opportunity to enjoy solitude and beautiful mountain landscapes.

The best option, in our opinion, is to celebrate Christmas in the city, and then go skiing or snowboarding to one of the Swiss resorts.

How to relax on New Year's Eve cheaper

  1. The most important - try to buy hotels and tickets as early as possible(in September - November, or even in the summer). Wherever you go, with the approach of the New Year, prices for tours and independent rest are growing every day.
  2. If it’s not critical for you to meet the New Year directly abroad, but you want to plunge into European Christmas culture or go to the sea and the beach, look for options with a return BEFORE or departure AFTER New Year’s Eve. Such options can cost several times cheaper than a trip that includes New Year's Eve.
  3. Sales in Europe start in January - if shopping is important to you, plan your holiday for the New Year so as not to return to Russia at the very beginning of January.

We hope this selection of countries for holidays for the New Year 2020 in Russia and abroad will help you decide on a vacation spot for the New Year holidays!

Have you already planned your vacation? We welcome your comments, recommendations and feedback!

This year Moscow is the best decorated for the winter holidays! A traditional GUM fair has unfolded on Red Square. Outwardly, it almost does not differ from its last year's predecessors, even the paraphernalia is the same. The only thing that was added to the design was festive retro postcards that decorate GUM this year.

1| The tradition of decorating non-coniferous trees on Red Square also continues. Unusual and wonderful.

2| Nikolskaya street - the most a nice place in New Year's Moscow! Probably even the street itself thinks that this is just a Christmas dream)

3| People stand in front of the decorations, as in front of a stage, many cannot hide their delight. The most popular phrase on Nikolskaya: “Like in Europe!” (although many cities in Europe decorate much more modestly). In second place is the question: “Is this really Moscow?”.

4| The entire street has been turned into a festive light corridor. True, from the side of Lubyanka, the decorations look more modest than from the side of Red Square.

5| The decorations of Tretyakovskiy Proyezd have been traditional for a couple of years now. From the new - the guards have learned not to buzz on a tripod and now they do not equate it with "a spy attribute of the competitors of the stores presented here." How can you not believe in miracles after this?

Last year, one head of the barrier tried to forbid me to shoot with a tripod. Was of course politely sent. He did not calm down, even called the police. Was sent a second time, already by the police.

Maybe the White Square is now also the guards are not so strange? And then they also looked at the tripod as a weapon.

6| Ice slide on Revolution Square. Alas, today it thawed a little and was already closed.

7| Fair on Manezhnaya Square. Great place!

8| for history)

9| The second year a huge ball appears on the Manezhka. Unlike its predecessor, it now shimmers in different colors.

10| As before, you can go inside. They say the ball grants wishes

11| Grand theater in the crown!

12| Fountain.

13| The second most beautiful place in the center after Nikolskaya!

15| Fair in front of the Central Department Store.

16| Carousel.

17| Gorgeous chamberlain.

18| Let's go through it.

19| On the side of Tverskaya on Kamergersky, they put luminous numbers 2016. They are also found in other places in the city - on Trubnaya, Tverskaya, Pushkinskaya.

20| A cozy fair on Tverskaya Square. The most difficult thing for a photo is to capture a moment without people. There are a lot of people walking, so sometimes you have to wait a long time. I was told that there were photographers who, in anticipation of the right moment, had time to read a whole volume of War and Peace!)

23| And smaller tunnels

24| Warm and cozy inside

Around the world, people celebrate the arrival of the New Year in almost the same way - with spectacular fireworks, street parties, music and dancing, as well as chic feasts and drinks. However, each country has something special and different from others. Of all the places represented, from Times Square in New York to an amazing dance party in South Africa, you will definitely find the city that suits you for an unforgettable New Year's celebration.

✰ ✰ ✰

Paris, France

There's nothing more romantic than watching the incredible light show and fireworks at the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris on New Year's Eve, or taking one of the river cruises along the Seine if a more intimate place with more privacy suits you.

No matter how you imagine the perfect New Year's Eve, the streets of the City of Light really come alive tonight with thousands of people celebrating the New Year with lots of champagne and dancing the night away. In addition to the big show, you can legally sell small fireworks in Paris, which means an abundance of sound and color on the streets all New Year's Eve until the morning.

✰ ✰ ✰

London, Great Britain

London's big New Year's Eve celebration includes an elaborate light show accompanied by the chimes of Big Ben, which attracts over 250,000 visitors lining the banks of the River Thames, along with a range of parties and clubs to choose from.

About 10,000 performers take part in the city's three-hour extravaganza to sing the New Year's song "Auld Lang Syne" to you. The party continues all night and smoothly transitions into January 1, when a parade of marching ensembles passes through the city, colorful carnival floats carry dancers in costumes and the Queen's horses prancing. The best places on earth to watch New Year's shows on the Victoria Embankment, Waterloo or Westminster Bridge - and on the water you can enjoy a cruise on the Thames.

✰ ✰ ✰

Sydney, Australia

Sydney is one of the first cities on the planet to celebrate the New Year, so it's no surprise that this city has such a wide variety of options for celebrating.

At Sydney Harbor, you can join the boats filled with revelers to watch the fireworks display over your head at midnight. Or book a table at one of the many waterfront restaurants on the Sydney Harbor Bridge side. You can also try to attend smoking ceremonies, make air flights, watch light mini-shows and a parade of lit boats. There is also a big dance party at Bondi Beach.

✰ ✰ ✰

New York, New York
