Stracha and Isloch are among the waterways of Belarus, these are the most popular routes - small rivers with a relatively fast flow and picturesque banks. “Not peace, but impressions - that’s the best vacation.”

In addition, in the northern part of Belarus there is Poozerye (Lake Region), from there water routes run through lake systems: along the Druika River (a system of lakes in the Braslav region), along the Usha River (a system of lakes in the Sinsha landscape reserve), along the Diva and Turovlyanka rivers (a system of lakes) Ushachi).

How amazing it is to stay overnight in a natural area, sleep under a tent in nature, using a sleeping bag or hammock. A night under the stars will inspire you to take another hike.
Options for overnight stays depend on the number of people. Camps are designed for small groups. The organizers provide the tent camp for 1000 people. Campsites for large groups along the route are reserved in advance.

The Ptich and Slukh rivers are quite wide; they are suitable for a multi-day trip from Central Belarus. But the Neman is in greatest demand among kayakers. The route passes through beautiful hilly areas. You can also highlight Berezina. The river flows through the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, but it should be borne in mind that in these places tourists on kayaks only go on a trip with the assistance of a border guard officer.

And if you choose the waterway of the Dnieper, the largest river in Belarus; and the Sozh River, the cleanest river among the great rivers of Europe, then a calm stream and beautiful beaches await you. Just keep in mind that large rivers do not change as dynamically as small ones; so choose the route according to your own judgment. We'll tell you: if you like active recreation, go kayaking on ! Especially for you, we have selected the most interesting water routes in Belarus 2018.

Rivers for kayaking in Belarus

Officially, for kayaking in Belarus there are only rivers of the first category of difficulty (the easiest). For the most part, they are quite slow and calm; there are almost no categorical sections on them: rapids, rifts, rifts, etc.

This is due to the flat terrain and the small number of stones in river beds, since the complexity of the river is determined by the speed of the flow and the presence of rapids (rocky, shallow areas).

In turn, the flow speed is determined based on the full flow of the river and the slope of the riverbed. There are deep rivers in Belarus, but their channel slope is very small, which is great for beginners.

Stracha and Isloch are among the most popular small rivers for kayaking in Belarus.

Among the water routes of Belarus, several rivers with relatively fast currents and picturesque banks can be distinguished. The most popular of them: Stracha River, Saryanka River(northwest of Belarus), Isloch River(Minsk Region). On these rivers there are riffles and rifts, but they are weakly expressed and fall only under the first category of difficulty. The rivers are also interesting: their banks are covered with virgin forests.

Stracha River

It is informally believed that during the spring flood, when the highest flow speed is reached, the Stracha River reaches the second category of complexity. It flows through a protected area and has several rapids - obstacles corresponding to the 2nd category of difficulty. The rapids on Stracha are artificial and arose on the site of old mill dams, which makes kayaking even more interesting.

Saryanka River

Saryanka River good because it can be walked in 2 days (weekends), there are several interesting rocky rifts, there are a lot of attractions on the banks (a church and an ancient park in the village of Sarya, geological outcrops of dolomite rocks, border posts on the border of Belarus and Latvia, in the nearest the starting point is the town of Osveya - the northernmost church in Belarus, the ruins of an ancient manor and an abandoned park, the second largest lake in Belarus in Belarus with the largest lake island in Belarus with the strange name Du and a floating ghost island named Boss).

Rafting on the lakes of Belarus

In addition, in the north of Belarus, in Poozerie, it is possible to lay out water routes that will pass through lake systems - this is the route along the Druika River (the Braslav lakes system), the Usha River (the Sinsha nature reserve system of lakes), the Diva and Turovlyanka rivers (the Ushachi lakes system).

Kayaking in Belarusian Polesie

But there are in Belarus, among the usual quiet, calm rivers, and those whose interest lies in something else. Namely, in the little-changed wild nature surrounding them and the absence of populated areas along the banks for a long distance. The standard of such rivers is Stviga River. It flows among huge tracts of wild forests and swamps along the border of the Gomel and Brest regions, in the center of Polesie and flows into Pripyat.

Along its bed there are various protected protected areas (Olmansky Swamps Nature Reserve, Pripyatsky National Park, Middle Pripyat Nature Reserve). Along 60-70 km of the river, from the village of Dzerzhinsk (formerly Radzivilovichi) to the village of Korotichi, there is not a single settlement or any objects of human economic activity.

Stviga is very beautiful and quite difficult for kayaking for beginners due to its autonomy and a large number of blockages, pins and other obstacles. As for other rivers of Polesie, they are wide and leisurely, flowing among meadows, swamps and floodplain forests. Many experienced tourists may find it quite boring. The Ubort River is very similar to Stviga - these rivers can be called twins.

Such tributaries of the Pripyat as Ptich and Sluch are popular among tourists.- these rivers are quite long, and along them you can make multi-day trips from central Belarus to Polesie. Of the tributaries of the Sozh, the Iput (the home river of Gomel watermen) and the Besed are of interest (unfortunately, the most beautiful section of the river is located in the exclusion zone after the Chernobyl accident and it is very difficult to obtain permission to raft along it).

Water routes along major rivers of Belarus

Of the large rivers for kayaking in Belarus, the one in greatest demand is Neman. It flows through beautiful, hilly areas, often with forested areas along the banks. You can also highlight Berezina. In its upper reaches it runs through the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, among wild swamps and forests.

But it should be taken into account that in those places rafting on it is paid and is carried out only when accompanied by a reserve employee. Tourists also walk along the Western Berezina, but now it has been greatly changed, a hydro-electric station has been built (dammed and reservoirs have been created).

You can also kayak along the famous Dnieper- the largest river in Belarus; and by Sozh River- is considered one of the cleanest large rivers in Europe. These rivers have a calm flow, considerable width and beautiful landscape banks. Unfortunately, the views on large rivers do not change as dynamically as on small ones; not every tourist may like this.

SULA

Sula is a river in the Stolbtsy district of the Minsk region of Belarus, the right tributary of the Neman. Length 76 km. The catchment area is 520 km2. The main tributaries: Tonva, Sermyazhka, Perekul, Volka.

The Sula flows along the southwestern slopes of the Minsk Upland, in its lower reaches it crosses small, occasionally swampy, forest areas. The valley is slightly sinuous, its width is 0.3-0.5 km, in some places it widens up to 2 km. The slopes are mostly under forest. The floodplain is two-sided, its width is 200-300 m, occasionally widens to 600 m, and is crossed by hollows and oxbow lakes. The riverbed is highly winding, the width of the river during low-water periods is from 3 m in the upper reaches and up to 20 m in the lower reaches.

The water in the Sula River is clean and transparent throughout its entire length, and the bottom is sandy. There are no cultivated fields in the river's floodplain, and this is also the reason why trout are found in the river.

Our rafting on the river begins not far from the village of Carolina, where on the river bank there are places for tourist parking with all amenities.
