This summer, the prices for holidays in Cyprus from our city were biting, there were no decent last-minute tours (and not illiquid assets passed off as last-minute tours by craftsmen-travel agents), but I wanted to go to Cyprus, because. a few days spent on my birthday in May were not enough for me personally.
We rested at the hotel from 09/01/19 to 09/08/19 (7 nights).
The tour was booked on 08/31/19, there were few options for the price, and the prices are still high. And I wanted to relax in a hurry (just looking at the rating and photo, and not carefully studying the description, location and reviews, as usual), I chose Anastasia 4 * in Protaras (I wanted Ayia Napa, but the prices there were even higher). However, having passed all passport controls, having an hour of time left before departure, I decided to read the reviews and I felt terrible: “loud music, I won’t be able to sleep at night, the beach is just a puddle”, for me, rest at sea is always, first of all , the sea itself, well, a calm healthy sleep (and not discos and excessive libations).
Transfer.
It took 45 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel (this is even taking into account the arrival at a huge number of hotels, ours was almost the last one).
Settlement.
Check-in according to the rules of the hotel after lunch (like after 2 pm, I didn’t remember, because it didn’t concern us: we arrived just after this time). At the reception, two Russian girls gave us a questionnaire, took our passports, gave us the key, and we went to our room by elevator to the third floor.
Interior
Sama, grounds, lobby, bar on the ground floor and restaurants are decorated in a modern minimalist style, which I love, I especially liked the reception, furniture and interior colors.
Number.
The furniture is a little old, the curtains are dirty and everything is full of holes and scuffs, no more than 40 percent of the required number of hooks were present on them (I'm not picky, but it's not so expensive to replace, and the impressions will be much better), two beds, comfortable mattresses , the bedding is snow-white and smells delicious, the TV was, but they never turned on, like the refrigerator and the safe, the plumbing is in good condition (and what is always important for me, the dryer for wet things is in excellent condition, without plaque and rust, from which things can go bad), the shower worked perfectly, problems with hot water or with her mood was not, the towels were changed every day, always snow-white and fragrant.
The room also had: tea, coffee (which were not replenished even once in a week), a kettle, tea pairs and glasses, a hairdryer, shower gel, soap, shampoo (they were replenished, but I had to remind and call reception a couple of times), bathrobes (quite in excellent condition).
The balcony is small, but there is enough space for two, chairs and a table not made of plastic, comfortable, they sat before going to bed and enjoyed the warm evenings, realizing that the harsh Ural autumn had already come at home and during the day no higher than 11 degrees with constant rains and a gray, hopeless sky.
Territory.
There is a rather large pool on the territory, divided into a children's and a deeper zone, it really wasn’t crowded, there were a lot of sunbeds, some kind of animation is being carried out, but I don’t know more about it, t.to. I prefer the sea to pools. The water in the pool is warm, the pool is clean.
There is also a water park, a lot of vacationers with children, the water park is very good for children, quite a sufficient number of slides. My husband and I had the HB system, everyone who had ALL could use the water park for free and without restrictions, but for me in Cyprus ALL is not an option, you have to drive on it, and not sit in a hotel)))
Location.
The hotel is located in Protaras, the place is quite quiet and remote from nightlife(quiet resort village, where there is nowhere to go in the evening, except for restaurants, cafes or shops), BUT: a large disco was installed next to the hotel (right on the beach), and on the first night we were simply stunned by the sound: with the windows closed and the balcony, the air conditioner turned on could have gone deaf! It felt like the windows were vibrating. And so on until 01.30!
It was our first night at the hotel (from September 1st to 2nd - from Sun to Mon), I was utterly disappointed that, without looking, I chose a hotel for the first time in my life, but in the following days, to my happiness, there were no discos (as we found out, most of the disco happens on weekends), a couple of times in the evenings there was live music in a bar across the road, but it was not so loud anymore and we slept with a closed balcony.
As our hotel guide, the hotel owners can't do anything about the disco, tk. the latter belongs to some high-ranking local official, and he is not going to reckon with anyone, that is, there is and will be a disco. Although hotel guests constantly swear at the reception that it is impossible to sleep, up to and including obscenities and assault, but there is no result.
Nutrition
We had the HB system, breakfasts and dinners are quite decent for 4 *, you could always find something tasty, but without frills. Drinks with such a system for dinner - for a fee, during breakfast, juices, coffee, tea are included. There was a small selection of fruits, unripe nectarines and peaches, unsweetened melon and watermelon, there were delicious bananas, oranges, grapefruits. There was a children's table for children, but I did not pay attention to what was offered there. They also serve delicious ice cream.
All the food is cooked quite tasty, there is always enough meat and there is a choice (beef, lamb, pork, chicken). So they didn't go hungry.
The waiters were helpful, friendly, they immediately took away dirty dishes and cutlery, they offered and quickly brought drinks of the right temperature, they were not intrusive. A glass of wine in the hotel restaurant costs 3.5 euros, but I did not like the quality of the wine.
Dinner included in the HB system can be changed for lunch by notifying the reception on the same day in the morning, where you will be given a piece of paper indicating that you have changed dinner for lunch.
Safe
The safe in the room is paid, the price is 15 euros per week, 2.5 euros per day. For UALL, the safe, like the water park, is free.
WiFi
For the first time in all my travels, I encountered such backwardness (or greed, I don’t even know): the hotel does not have free wi-fi even at the reception, and this is a 4 * hotel! They offer exclusively paid wi-fi - for 10 euros per day (24 euros per week) for two devices, as a result, they bought a local SIM card and were online not only at the hotel, but everywhere. Even in India, in a 2 * hotel, I had Internet at the reception for FREE.
Sea and beach
The beach is literally 15 meters from the hotel's fence, you can say the 1st line. But it's not just small, it's tiny)))) 15-20 minutes of a leisurely step along the promenade to the right there is a large beach, with a very convenient entrance, without stones, with beautiful fine sand. We swam on it instead of the hotel one on the first day.
Beach towels are issued on a deposit of 10 euros per 1 piece. We went to change every day for clean ones.
Cleaning
Cleaning every day, they wash well, do not forget about the dishes, change towels for clean ones, but, as I wrote above, they forget to replenish tea, coffee and gels, shampoos, soap.
Staff
Russian girls at the reception are not very friendly, to put it mildly, for the first time in my life I was met at the reception with such involuntary faces, they answer carelessly and with a sense of favor, what is the reason for this, I don’t understand at all. I booked a table at a fish restaurant in Ayia Napa myself, but called the reception (because it’s free), asked me to tell me which code to dial the local number correctly, so they told me, but also with an unhappy look and with great favor (in short , I want to say to the owners of the hotel that with such an attitude towards guests, my mood deteriorated literally in a minute even upon check-in, and the desire to come to the hotel again disappeared for good, work with the staff or hire others).
I already wrote about the waiters: they are very polite and unobtrusive, smiling.
Gym and indoor pool
In the basement of the hotel there is an indoor swimming pool and a gym, the use of which is free of charge for all guests, regardless of the food system.
parking
The hotel has ample parking, rented a car, very convenient. Do not use hotels of the Tsokos series.
We returned from vacation a week ago. Impressions of the country are excellent, I want to return to Cyprus again, but definitely not to the hotels of the Tsokos series!
We took a ticket to another hotel in the Tsokos series - Papantonia 4 *. But a situation happened to us, described in many reviews here: there were not enough places for us in Papantonia, although the vouchers were bought back in April. Our mistake was that when we got off the bus, we didn’t rush to the reception desk, as a result, the family had enough seats in front of us, but we didn’t.
We were sent to Anastasia immediately for the entire duration of our stay. As compensation, they offered lunch (we had breakfasts and dinners) and a free coupon for visiting the water park. We were tired from the road, and even with a small child, so we resignedly agreed. And judging by the reviews, the fight would be useless.
At first glance, we liked Anastasia more than Papantonia. Closer to the beach, a beautiful hall, Russian-speaking staff at the reception (perhaps he was also in Papantonia, but we didn’t get to him).
The number, perhaps, does not correspond to 4 *, yes for Turkey, but not for Europe. Small but everything is quite new. The first night we spent the night in a room on the 4th floor overlooking the road and a piece of the sea. With such a view on the balcony, it is interesting to sit and drink wine, but that night we wanted only one thing - to sleep, which was not possible, because the music was blaring in the Blue Spice bar across the road. Even earplugs didn't help. But we chose Protaras as a quiet region, not as "noisy" as Ayia Napa. The next day they asked to change the room. After dinner, we were offered exactly the same room on the 4th floor, but with a view of the Aquapark. The balcony is not so picturesque, but at night it will not be noisy, we thought. No matter how! Drunken karaoke every night entertained us perfectly, although not with the same strength as the bar music, but with the balcony door open, you still can’t sleep. And the air conditioner blows so well, and right on the child's bed, that after a few minutes you start to freeze. In short, during the night, I had to get up periodically and then turn on and off the air conditioner, then open the balcony, in general, fun. Although, perhaps we are just some kind of Russian sissies ...
Cleaning is so-so. They make beds, do they wash the floor at all - is that a question ?? There was a thick layer of dust under the beds, and next to the balcony in the flower garden there were about 50 cigarette butts. True, shampoo and shower gel were put to us from the heart.
Now paid services. The safe is paid, as everywhere, it seems to me. Of course, the complete lack of free internet was embarrassing. Especially budget tourists you can go to the Papanthonia hall, where wi-fi is free, but the speed is so-so. For the Internet, we paid on the first day 24 euros for a week for two devices. The speed is good, somewhere in the reviews they wrote that it was low, but our child watched cartoons without braking and freezing, in general, we were satisfied.
It was possible to walk generally everywhere throughout the territory of Tsokos, to swim in any pool, no one stopped us. Papantonia has the most interesting children's pool, and the adult one is much cleaner than in Anastasia and Marlita, it seems to be newer. We didn’t go to Anastasia’s pool at all, there were sooo many people in it, there were a lot of foreigners.
The sea is very clean, warm, we really liked it. You can walk to the nearest beach, next to the Marlita hotel. There are free sun loungers with umbrellas on site next to the sea. We liked the beach a little to the left more, it is a little more spacious, and there is very clean sand. There are a lot of people in the season, by 10 o'clock the beach cove is more like a paddling pool. But if you swim further away, you can watch the fish, and the reefs are beautiful to look at.
Food for 4 with a minus. Often I came across inedible things - for example, undercooked rice, or completely unsalted pasta, strange salads, etc. But you will not stay hungry, choose carefully - and you can find very tasty dishes. for lunch the poorest choice. A nice bonus for every lunch and dinner is delicious ice cream. Fruit is enough.
The water park is not interesting, every day they would not go to it for a fee.
The wait staff was generally pleasant and friendly.
Everything would be fine, but the last day spoiled a little general impression about rest. The calculation for the room went through with problems. Firstly, they did not want to return the money for the towel to the husband. Because on the receipt, someone signed for handing in the towel and getting 10 euros for us. The girl at the reception behaved incorrectly. Unfortunately, there were no Russian speakers that day, and it was the day of departure, and we did not have to choose. She almost accused her husband of stealing this towel and now wants to collect 10 euros from her for no reason at all. They tried to prove to her that the signature of the person who received the money did not match either his or mine. In the end, she nevertheless returned the money to us, but with such a look that such a scandal was inflated because of such a trifle. Well, of course, 10 euros is such a trifle! However, we still had to pay the extra 24 euros. It turned out that the Internet was connected twice! And all because we changed the room, and we were charged twice. I didn’t have the strength to quarrel with this aunt again, I had to pay. And she talked with such an air that she didn’t give a damn about ours and in general for anyone else’s problems. We concluded for ourselves that, in general, this is the policy of Tsokos hotels. They do not care about your comfort, the main thing is to earn more. Advice to those who change rooms to check that everything is correctly issued at the reception and that they do not charge you for services twice.

Family apartments

And the Anastasia 4 * hotel has such rooms. Family apartments are not much larger than the standards - by 3 square meters. m. However, this is just enough to fit an extra bed in the form of a sofa bed, designed for the third guest. The price of a weekly all-inclusive stay is r. for two, and 165-175 for three. Rooms with sea views will be 10-15 thousand rubles more expensive. As in the previous case.

Most of all, you will have to give to those guests who decide to stay in a family apartment with a sea view and access to the water park. Three guests for a week of stay will need to pay 230,000 rubles (approximately 76 thousand rubles from each). But, however, given the "star" of the hotel and the fact that the declared price includes 9 percent VAT, the cost ceases to seem high. Moreover, summer tariffs are given as an example. And out of season, the Anastasia Hotel offers much better prices.

In summer, many people come here, but if you want privacy and silence, you can go here in early spring or late autumn. The hotel will be half empty, the prices will be low, and the sea will be clean. In general, you can have a good rest here at any time of the year.
