Where to ride

Since Soviet times, Vorokhta has gained the reputation of a ski resort for extreme sportsmen. True, today this is not true: jumping hills, which previously served as a training base for Olympians, are in disrepair and are used mainly as a decorative element, a backdrop for photographs or a guide for drivers. In 2012, there is only one fairly long (300 meters) track. And it is not in great demand either - experienced skiers prefer to go to Bukovel, located just 10 kilometers away. So if you are an experienced and enthusiastic skier, you will be bored in Vorokhta.

But for those who are just starting to ski or snowboard, as well as for children, Vorokhta has everything you need.

Firstly, there is a ski school where beginners are taught by qualified instructors, and not amateur enthusiasts who have recently embarked on skis themselves. Secondly, there is a special training track with a multi-lift for beginners and children. The track is small and not steep, so beginner skiers, if desired, can climb it even on their own, without a lift.

And for the most “zero” skiers, there is a gentle slope next to the slopes, where instructors show the basics of skiing and snowboarding.

Unlike Slavsk, where there are also gentle slopes for beginners, the tracks in Vorokhta work regardless of weather conditions due to the presence of artificial snow, the lifts (tow and multi-lift) are brand new, and the snowcat provides smooth slopes without bumps.

The training slope is always crowded, and many beginners also neglect the services of an instructor and drive, to put it mildly, not carefully. Therefore, during peak hours, be prepared to avoid falling or already fallen skiers and dodge balancing snowboarders.

Despite the high demand for the slide for beginners, Prostoturist did not find long queues for the lift even in the midst of the Christmas holidays.

Having gained confidence on the training slope, you can move to the "adult" track. A ski lift works here.

This route is not crowded at all. Small crowds of people are only at the bottom of the slope - groups with instructors sometimes work here. At the bottom of the slopes there is a ski rental and a cafe where you can warm up with tea or hot wine.

Ski equipment can be rented in the village - here at every turn and prices are slightly lower than near the slopes. But dragging a weighty ski kit to the lift will not be close. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, in Vorokhta you can try other ways of entertaining downhill skiing. For example, there is a separate track for descending in inflatable rubber "buns", with the loud name "snow tubing".

In addition, in the village you can rent or even buy sleds and plastic "plates" for descent. True, they ride them on less civilized routes in the mountains.

You can take a chairlift to the place of luge skiing. cable car located next to the ski slopes. In other cases, this cable car performs review functions. The second - the longest and most famous "armchair" in Vorokhta - is now closed for repairs.
