This summer, the prices for holidays in Cyprus from our city were biting, there were no decent last minute tours (and not sold as hot tours by skilled travel agents), but I wanted to go to Cyprus, because a few days spent on my birthday in May was not enough for me personally.
We rested at the hotel from 09/01/19 to 09/08/19 (7 nights).
The tour was booked on 08/31/19, there were few options for the price, and the prices are high anyway. And I wanted to have a rest and hastily (just looking at the rating and photos, and not carefully studying the description, location and reviews, as usual), I chose Anastasia 4 * in Protaras (I wanted Ayia Napa, but the prices were even higher there). However, having passed all passport controls, having an hour before departure, I decided to read the reviews and I felt creepy: "loud music, I won't be able to sleep at night, the beach is just a puddle" , the sea itself, well, a calm healthy sleep (and not discos and excessive libations).
Transfer.
It took 45 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel (this is even taking into account the arrival at a huge number of hotels, ours was almost the last).
Check-in.
Check-in according to the rules of the hotel after lunch (like, after 2 pm, I didn't remember, because it didn't concern us: we arrived just after that time). At the reception, two Russian girls, gave a questionnaire, took their passports, gave out the key, and we went to our room by elevator to the third floor.
Interior
The territory itself, the hall, the bar on the ground floor and the restaurants are decorated in a modern minimalist style, as I like, I especially liked the reception, furniture and interior colors.
Number.
The furniture is old, the curtains are dirty and everything is in holes and scuffs, no more than 40 percent of the required number of hooks were present on them (I'm not picky, but it's not so expensive to replace, and the experience will be much better), there are two beds, comfortable mattresses , the bed is snow-white and deliciously smelling, the TV was there, but they did not turn on even once, like the refrigerator and the safe, the plumbing was in good condition (and what is always important for me, the dryer for wet things is in excellent condition, without plaque and rust, from which things can go bad), the shower worked perfectly, there were no problems with hot water or with its setting, the towels were changed every day, always snow-white and fragrant.
The room also contained: tea, coffee (which had not been replenished even once in a week), kettle, tea pairs and glasses, hairdryer, shower gel, soap, shampoo (they were replenished, but I had to remind and call the reception a couple of times), dressing gowns (quite in excellent condition).
The balcony is small, but there is enough space for two, the chairs and the table are not made of plastic, comfortable, they sat before going to bed and enjoyed the warm evenings, realizing that the harsh Ural autumn had already come at home and in the daytime no higher than 11 degrees with constant rains and a gray, gloomy sky.
Territory.
On the territory there is a rather large swimming pool, divided into a nursery and a deeper zone, it really was not crowded, there are many sun loungers, some animation is being carried out, but I do not know in more detail, because I prefer the sea to the pools. The pool water is warm, the pool is clean.
There is also a water park, many vacationers with children, the water park is very good for children, quite a sufficient number of slides. My husband and I had the HB system, everyone who had ALL could use the water park for free and without restrictions, but for me in Cyprus ALL is not an option, you have to drive on it, and not sit in a hotel)))
Location.
The hotel is located in Protaras, the place is quite quiet and far from the nightlife (a quiet resort village where there is really nowhere to go in the evening, except for restaurants, cafes or shops), BUT: a large disco area was installed next to the hotel (right on the beach), and on the very first night we were simply stunned by the sound: with the windows and balcony closed, the air conditioner turned on, we could go deaf! The feeling was that the glass was vibrating. And so on until 01.30 !!!
It was our first night at the hotel (from 1st to 2nd September - from Sun to Mon), I was completely disappointed that, without looking, I chose the hotel for the first time in my life, but in the following days, to my happiness, there were no discos (as we found out mostly disco happens on weekends), a couple of times in the evenings there was live music in the bar across the road, but it was not so loud and we slept with a closed balcony.
As our hotel guide told me, the owners of the hotel cannot do anything about the disco, because the latter belongs to some high-ranking local official, and he is not going to reckon with anyone, that is, there is and will be a disco. Although the guests of the hotel constantly swear at the reception that it is impossible to sleep, even to the point of obscenities and assault, but there is no result.
Food
We had the HB system, breakfasts and dinners are quite decent for a 4 *, you could always find something tasty, but no frills. Drinks with this system for dinner - for a fee, during breakfast juices, coffee, tea are included. There was a small selection of fruits, unripe nectarines and peaches, unsweetened melons and watermelons, delicious bananas, oranges, and grapefruits. There was a children's table for the children, but I did not pay attention to what was offered there. Delicious ice cream is also served.
All food is prepared quite tasty, meat is always enough and there is a choice (beef, lamb, pork, chicken). So we didn’t stay hungry.
The waiters are helpful, friendly, immediately took away the dirty dishes and cutlery, offered and quickly brought drinks of the correct temperature on time, were not intrusive. A glass of wine in the hotel restaurant costs 3.5 euros, but I didn't like the quality of the wine.
Dinner included in the HB system can be changed for lunch by informing the reception on the same day in the morning, where you will be given a piece of paper indicating that you have changed dinner for lunch.
Safe
Safe in the room is paid, the price is 15 euros per week, 2.5 euros per day. For UALL, the safe, like the water park, is free.
Wi-Fi
For the first time in all my travels, I faced such backwardness (or greed, I don't even know): the hotel does not have free wi-fi even at the reception, and this is a 4 * hotel! They offer exclusively paid wi-fi - for 10 euros per day (24 euros per week) for two devices, in the end they bought a local SIM card and were online not only in the hotel, but everywhere. Even in India, in a 2 * hotel, I had Internet at the reception for FREE.
Sea and beach
The beach is literally 15 meters from the hotel fence, one might say the 1st line. But it is not just small, it is tiny)))) In 15-20 minutes of a leisurely step along the embankment to the right, there is a large beach, with a very convenient entrance, without stones, with beautiful fine sand. We swam on it instead of the hotel on the first day.
Beach towels are provided on a deposit of 10 euros per 1 piece. We went to change every day for clean ones.
Cleaning
They are cleaned every day, they wash well, do not forget about the dishes, change towels for clean ones, but, as I wrote above, they forget to replenish tea, coffee and gels, shampoos, and soap.
Staff
Russian girls at the reception are not particularly welcoming, to put it mildly, for the first time in my life I was greeted at the reception with such unhappy faces, they answer casually and with a sense of favor, which is due to me, I don't understand at all. I booked a table in a fish restaurant in Ayia Napa myself, but called from the reception (since it’s free), asked me to tell you which code to use to dial the local number correctly, so I was prompted, but also with a displeased look and with a big favor (in short , I want to say to the hotel owners that with such an attitude towards guests, my personal mood deteriorated literally in a minute even upon check-in, and the desire to come back to the hotel was gone for good, work with the staff or hire others).
I already wrote about the waiters: they are very polite and unobtrusive, smiling.
Gym and indoor pool
The hotel's ground floor has an indoor pool and gym, which are free to use for all guests, regardless of the food system.
Parking
The hotel has ample parking, we rented a car, very convenient. Do not use the hotels of the Tsokos series.
We returned from vacation a week ago. The impressions of the country are excellent, I would like to return to Cyprus again, but definitely not to the hotels of the Tsokos series!
We took a ticket to another hotel of the Tsokos series - Papantonia 4 *. But a situation happened to us, described in many reviews here: there were not enough places for us in Papantonia, although the vouchers were bought back in April. Our mistake was that after getting off the bus, we did not rush to the reception desk at full speed, as a result, the family had enough seats in front of us, but we didn’t.
We were sent to Anastasia for the entire duration of our stay. As compensation, they offered lunch (we had breakfast-dinners) and a free coupon for visiting the water park. We were tired from the road, and even with a small child, so we resignedly agreed. And judging by the reviews, the fight would be useless.
At first glance, we liked Anastasia more than Papantonia. Closer to the beach, a beautiful hall, Russian-speaking staff at the reception (perhaps he was in Papantonia too, but we did not get there).
The number, perhaps, does not correspond to 4 *, yes for Turkey, but not for Europe. Small but everything is pretty new. The first night we spent the night in a room on the 4th floor overlooking the road and a piece of the sea. It is interesting to sit and drink wine with such a view on the balcony, but that night we only wanted one thing - to sleep well, which we didn’t manage, because the music was screaming in the Blue Spice bar across the road. Even earplugs didn't help. But we chose Protaras as a quiet region, not as "noisy" as Ayia Napa. The next day they asked to change the number. After lunch, we were offered exactly the same room on the 4th floor, but overlooking the Water Park. The balcony is not so picturesque, but at night it will not be noisy, we thought. No matter how it is! Drunken karaoke every night we were perfectly entertained, though not as strongly as the music of the bar, but with the balcony door open, you still can't sleep. And the air conditioner blows so well, and right on the child's bed, that in a few minutes you start to freeze. In short, during the night, I had to periodically get up and then turn on and off the air conditioner, then open the balcony, in general it is fun. Although, perhaps, we are just some kind of Russian sissies ...
Cleaning is so-so. Are they changing the beds, is the floor being washed at all - is that a question? There was a thick layer of dust under the beds, and next to the balcony there were about 50 cigarette bulls in the flower garden. True, the shampoo with shower gel was given to us from the heart.
Now paid services. The safe is paid, as elsewhere, it seems to me. Of course, I was confused by the complete absence of free internet. Particularly economical tourists can go to Papantonia's hall, where Wi-Fi is free, but the speed is so-so. We paid for the Internet on the very first day 24 euros for a week for two devices. The speed is good, somewhere in the reviews they wrote that it was low, but our child watched cartoons without braking and freezing, in general it suited us.
It was possible to walk in general everywhere throughout the territory of Tsokos, swim in any pool, no one stopped us. Papantonia has the most interesting children's pool, and the adult is much cleaner than Anastasia and Marlita, it looks like it's newer. We did not go to Anastasia's pool at all, there were sooo many people in it, there were a lot of foreigners.
The sea is very clean, warm, we really liked it. You can walk to the nearest beach, next to the Marlita hotel. There, free sun loungers with umbrellas on site are located next to the sea. We liked the beach a little more to the left, it is a little more spacious, and there is very clean sand. There are a lot of people in the season, by 10 o'clock the cove of the beach looks more like a paddling pool. But if you swim further away, you can watch the fish and see the beautiful reefs.
Food for 4 minus. Often came across inedibles - for example, undercooked rice, or completely unsalted pasta, strange salads, etc. But you will not stay hungry, choose carefully - and you can find very tasty dishes. the poorest choice for lunch. A pleasant bonus for every lunch and dinner is delicious ice cream. Fruit is enough.
The water park is not interesting, they would not go to it every day for a fee.
Service staff generally pleased, in places friendly.
Everything would have been fine, but the last day spoiled the overall impression of the rest a little. The payment for the room went through with problems. Firstly, the husband did not want to return the money for the towel. Because on the receipt, someone signed for the towel and got 10 euros for us. The girl at the reception desk behaved incorrectly. Unfortunately, there were no Russian speakers that day, and this was the day of departure, and we did not have to choose. She almost accused her husband of stealing this towel and now wants to collect 10 euros from her for nothing. They tried to prove to her that the signature of the person who received the money does not match either his or mine. As a result, she still returned the money to us, but with such an air that such a trifle caused such a scandal. Of course, 10 euros is such a trifle! However, we still had to pay the extra 24 euros. It turned out that the Internet was connected twice! And all because we changed the number, and we were charged twice. There was no longer any strength to scandal with this aunt again, I had to pay. And she talked in such a way that she didn't give a damn about ours and anyone's problems in general. We came to the conclusion that, in general, this is the policy of Tsokos hotels. They don't give a fuck for your comfort, the main thing is to earn more. Advice to those who change numbers, make sure that the reception desk has correctly issued everything and does not charge you twice for services.

However, this is just enough to accommodate an additional bed in the form of a folding sofa, intended for the third guest. The price of a weekly stay on the "all inclusive" system is r. for two, and 165-175 for three. Rooms with a sea view will be 10-15 rubles more expensive. As in the previous case.

Most of all will have to give to those guests who decide to stay in a family apartment with a sea view and the right to visit the water park. Three guests will need to pay 230,000 rubles per week of stay (approximately 76 rubles from each). But, however, if we take into account the "star rating" of the hotel and the fact that the declared price includes 9% VAT, the cost ceases to seem high. Moreover, summer rates are given as an example. And outside the season, the Anastasia hotel offers much more favorable prices.
