Vorontsov Palace beach. Where in the Dnieper to relax in nature: Vorontsovsky beach

Despite unique nature, many note that there are no beaches as such (many kilometers, wide, sandy or pebble, where you can lay out a sunbed or towel and lie down for the whole day) in Alupka.

This is primarily a mountain town, suitable for active recreation.

Most beaches are rocky. You need to go into the water very carefully and be sure to have anti-coral slippers. The entrance to the water is very steep, the depth begins quickly, so you don’t need to swim far.

In total, according to official data, there are 6 free state and 23 medicinal beaches in Alupka.

By order of the City Council, all beaches are state-owned, and therefore free and accessible to the public. Hotels are prohibited from “seizing” the beach area for their own needs.

If you are still faced with the fact that you were not allowed to go to the sea somewhere, feel free to call +38 0654 72 22 34.

Among the reviews from vacationers, opinions vary: some write that there are no places on the beach. But this is most likely during peak season (July-August). Others were lucky enough to have a great time on the free beaches of Alupka.

Here is a list of the most popular beaches in Alupka. Clicking on the name of a beach will take you to the description of that beach in the article. The list of Alupka beaches is sorted by popularity.

Free City Beach (Vorontsov Baths Beach) - one of the largest

This is probably the most famous beach of Alupka, it is located right under the Vorontsov Palace. If you find yourself in Alupka in the summer, don't forget to take your swimwear when you go to the Vorontsov Palace. Immediately after the cultural program, you can continue relaxing on the beach.

How to get to the beach: from Vorontsov Palace keep your course straight down. You will need to cross Vorontsovsky Park. You can go down the stairs, it can be found next to the East Palace Gate, behind the tourist shops.

There are rumors that Vorontsov himself used this descent when he wanted to relax at sea.

What does the beach look like: as in the whole of Alupka, the strip for sunbathing is quite narrow (about 5-6 meters, and even less during a storm). The beach is divided into several parts by breakwaters. It is better to swim and sunbathe in the area between the breakwaters, since the part of the beach behind them is quite dirty and unkempt.

Free amenities on Vorontsovsky Beach: on the beach there are changing rooms, fresh water to rinse your feet, a free toilet, trash cans, tents, cafes and restaurants where you can buy drinks and food.

According to reviews from many tourists, the toilet leaves much to be desired: it is very dirty, smells bad, and is inconvenient to use.

Cost of various beach amenities:

  • sunbeds and deck chairs for the whole day cost around 100 rubles
  • Renting an umbrella can cost you 70 rubles per day
  • banana boat and catamaran ride - approx. 250 - 280 rubles in one ride
  • rental of fins, snorkels and masks - approx. 100 - 120 rubles per day

Children's beach, smallish

The children's beach is located on the left side of the Vorontsov baths. The name of the beach speaks for itself, the sea here is shallow, the water warms up very well, which makes this place great for small children. Between the beach Vorontsov baths and Children's Beach are “strewn” with huge boulders. Among these boulders you can find the famous Aivazovsky's staircase. You can read more about this attraction in our separate article.

Many even allocate the area next to Aivazovsky’s stone as a separate beach - Beach at Aivazovsky Rock.

Also, the boulders of the Children's Beach form natural splash pools that delight children.

The boulders between Vorontsovskie Baths Beach and Children's Beach are great for snorkeling and fishing. It is convenient to cast a fishing rod from them.

How to get to the beach

Address- Palace Highway, right under the Vorontsov Palace, you can walk from the Vorontsov Baths, Children's Beach is on the left side.

On Children's Beach it is also possible to rent sunbeds and umbrellas; there are tents and small cafes around where you can have a snack with children. There are cabins for changing clothes.

Frog Beach is one of the best

The beach owes its funny name to the intricately stacked stones. Nature arranged the stones in the shape of a frog. This beach also has a second (more official name) - beaches children's sanatorium named after. Bobrova.

The beach was created artificially for vacationers of the Yuzhnoberezhny sanatorium. The beach strip is divided between sanatoriums, but there are also free areas for all Alupka vacationers. There are very wild sections of the beach, covered with slippery stones, a favorite place for sea urchins.

On the beach you can find all the amenities you could wish for: there are a sufficient number of changing rooms, washrooms, and a toilet. You can have a snack in expensive and not so expensive restaurants, cafes, eateries, or simply buy food from hand or in tents.

The water in the sea is very clean, as the bottom is pebbly mixed with large boulders.

How to get there

This beach is located west of all Alupka beaches. This beach is most conveniently accessible if you are staying in new houses built on Cape Verde. Minibus No. 107 goes to the beach. You need to get off at the stop" Cape Verde” or “Ring”. The map shows that the beaches are located near Lenin Street.

While swimming in the sea, you can admire the view of Mount Cat, so named again because of the similarity of the shape of the mountain with the domestic animal of the same name.

First you need to understand what boathouses are in Crimea. Initially, these were buildings for storing sea boats and boats. Boathouses were usually built very close to the sea, so that it was convenient to bring a boat or motorboat into the garage. Then the owners of the boathouses realized that they would earn more if they rented out houses by the sea to vacationers. The boathouses were immediately converted into small villas by the sea. They have everything you need for a comfortable stay. You can rent boathouses in Alupka

Another advantage of boathouses is the presence of “own” beaches. Of course, anyone can come to these beaches, but know that the owners of the boathouses will look at you askance.

Typically in these places a large number of restaurants, cafes, fast food, shops. There are no showers, toilets, or rental of sunbeds and umbrellas, because these beaches are mainly used by the owners and guests of the boathouses, who can get all these amenities in their own home.

The advantages of such beaches are that they are very clean, well-groomed, and located in places convenient for entering the sea. Some even have artificial grass planted. The covering of the beaches is usually concrete, as the beaches are made artificially.

How to get there: the location of the beaches of the boathouses, as can be seen on the map, is close to the Yuzhnoberezhny sanatorium. This is the western part of Alupka.

Description of the beach

Alupka is a small town with several beaches, all of which are pebbly. The pebbles are not very large, but not comfortable enough to sunbathe directly on them by spreading a towel. Fortunately, on the shore you can rent a sun lounger and sun loungers.

The beach area is only 100 meters long and about 6 meters wide. The “back” is covered by a concrete wall, and on both sides the cultural zone is limited by two breakwaters. The same breakwater divides the beach into two parts. The entry into the water, although gentle, is not very comfortable; there are many large stones and boulders. The depth starts pretty close.

Despite some difficulties for swimming, people go to Vorontsovsky Beach with their children. There is a special area for them, fenced off on the sea side with huge boulders. The shallow lagoon also has a rocky bottom, but the water warms up quickly, the pool is poorly supplied with cold influx from the sea, and strong waves do not penetrate here.

You can sit with a sun lounger not only near the water, but also a little higher, on the embankment. Special areas are designated for this. The embankment is also full of small shops and stalls selling ice cream, drinks and souvenirs. There are bars and cafes where you can beat the heat, drink a cold drink, or have a snack.

Those who like solitude can go away from Central Beach, but behind the breakwaters on the left and right a wild zone begins. Vorontsov baths are provided with all amenities:

  1. Umbrellas and sun loungers.
  2. Changing rooms, showers.
  3. Free toilet.
  4. Beach equipment rental is available.
  5. Fans of active fun can ride on banana boats and catamarans.
  6. Shops and kiosks are open.

For serious entertainment you need to go to neighboring Yalta. Alupka is quiet and peaceful. People come here to take a break from the hustle and bustle, breathe in the mountain air, and gain strength under the gentle sun in the warm sea. Alupka’s main pride is its health resorts, which began operating here more than 100 years ago.

When is the best time to go?

Weather conditions in Crimea depend on the place where you will be vacationing: if south coast relatively warm and humid, other places may be cooler and drier. The ideal time for a trip is considered to be the period from the end of May to the first half of July inclusive, when the air and sea have already warmed up (23-25 degrees), but there is no real heat yet. If you like even warmer weather, choose the second half of July-early August.

Infrastructure

It was thanks to sanatorium and resort institutions that the infrastructure of Alupka began to develop. Pine air and the aroma of park plants, complemented by the sea breeze, create a unique atmosphere of the city.

Those who travel to Alupka with children must take into account that the entire city consists of ups and downs. This especially applies to the upper part of the city. If you are traveling with children or elderly parents, it is better to rent housing in another area. Walking to the sea and back every day along steep hills will be tiring.

Tourists settle in sanatoriums and boarding houses, stay in mini-hotels or accept offers from hosts in the private sector. The latter option often has as an added bonus a cozy courtyard with southern vegetation, exotic palms, figs and peach trees. If you arrive at the right time, you might even be lucky enough to taste the fruits from them. Persimmon, for example, will only ripen in winter.

Most of the hotels are middle class. There are many guest houses and offers in the private sector, where cottages for large groups are popular.

The infrastructure around the Vorontsov Baths may not seem active enough. There are no noisy bars and discos in the town. To a metropolitan resident, Alupka will generally seem like a town or village. But many come here precisely for this measured life, under the protection of the calm Ai-Petri, in the soothing lush greenery, in the healing air.

The city has neither an airport nor a railway station. Tourists make do with buses, trolleybuses and taxis running between cities. In Alupka itself you can use the only ring bus that travels around the city. Or you may not use it. For an experienced walker, one and a half hours from one end settlement in the other - not a hook.

Alupka is a popular resort town, located in the heart of the southern coast of Crimea, where vacationers come en masse, they talk about it and even sing songs, putting Alupka on a par with Sochi. And clearly not by chance.

Alupka is located in the center of the Crimean subtropical coastal strip and is completely surrounded by the greenery of exotic vegetation. It is enough to take a boat on the Alupka pier and look at the city from the water, and you will see it in all its glory, you will be amazed at how well it is landscaped.

In Alupka, as in other villages on the Crimean southern coast, there is a wonderful climate with little rain, mild and warm winters, and in addition, the city on the land side is protected from the winds by a mountain range led by the “toothed” beauty Ai-Petri. Summer here is not so hot. Protect from the heat sea breezes, creating comfort while relaxing.

The sea itself in Alupka is clean, but for those who like to bask in the soft sandy beaches, you will be disappointed: in these places the coastal strip consists exclusively of pebbles, stones and rocks. There are, of course, advantages: no sand will accidentally get into your eyes if a strong wind blows up, and the sea water will never be cloudy from the waves - on pebble beaches the water is always cleaner than on sandy ones.

Alupka. Breakwaters

Despite the purity of the water, not everyone likes Alupka beaches. The fact is that they are quite narrow and in the summer they are always crowded with people. You can literally say about them in July-August that there is nowhere for an apple to fall - no personal space.

Alupka, Crimea. Beaches in Alupka

Some tourists believe that it is better not to stop in Alupka for this reason, but it is more rational to do it in neighboring Miskhor. Another option is to come here to velvet season, in September, when the sea is still warm, and there are already noticeably fewer vacationers. You can come to Alupka at the beginning of the season - in April-May, when the beaches are not yet teeming with endless crowds of people. But only seasoned beachgoers will be able to fully swim during this period, because the sea is still a little cold.

Not everyone will like the fact that almost all Alupka beaches look so artificial due to the numerous concrete breakwaters. On the other hand, these breakwaters are convenient for those who like to dive. Anyway, wild beaches You won’t find it in Alupka. This is too tasty a piece of the southern coast of Crimea for there to be any free places here. Some coastal areas of the city have been chosen by former and current high-ranking officials and multimillionaires.

The convenient location of Alupka is another reason why it gained popularity and became so in demand. The “resort capital” of Yalta is only 17 km from here, the city is surrounded by no less tasty Miskhor and Simeiz, the picturesque Mount Ai-Petri rises above Alupka, where a unique one of its kind leads from Miskhor cable car, and in nearby Gaspra rises the symbol of the entire Crimea - a unique palace bird home. This is despite the fact that I have not yet remembered that within a radius of 30 kilometers from here there is a whole constellation of attractions, most of which are the main ones in Crimea.

On the streets of Alupka

There is a landmark in Alupka that people come from everywhere to see, and sightseeing buses sometimes they line up. It competes with the Livadia Palace for the title of the most luxurious residence Crimean peninsula. Of course, we are talking about the Vorontsov Palace and the park, in whose green embrace this luxurious palace located.

Alupka. Vorontsov Palace

Housing in Alupka is almost no different in cost from Yalta. Prices for a double room in hotels in summer start from 600 rubles. In August, prices jump to their maximum, and there are few accommodation options during this peak period, which is why rooms go under the hammer at almost any price. Despite some of the shortcomings of this resort, there are people who want to relax here every year - they are attracted by the convenient location of Alupka, its historical palace and the incomparable park next to it. “Word of mouth” is doing its job: having heard from friends about the delights of Alupka, more and more vacationers come here every year, and the city beaches are becoming more and more crowded, which, of course, does not make this resort more attractive.

Alupka. A park

You can take a ride to neighboring cities and towns, including Yalta, from Alupka not only by a banal taxi or minibus, but also by a regular boat on the sea, with the breeze. Boats run several times a day, and the impressions of spending such a romantic time on a boat overlooking the wonderful Crimean coast and mountains will remain in your memory for a long time. Don't forget to take your camera with you!

Vorontsov Palace and Park Complex

It was this object that at one time radically influenced the fate of Alupka and contributed to the fact that the modest village began to grow and subsequently turned into a whole city. This happened after the Russian statesman, Governor-General of the Novorossiysk Territory Mikhail Vorontsov decided to build his summer residence here - for some reason he liked these particular places.

Alupka. Vorontsov Palace

The palace and park were built thoroughly, over 20 long years, English, German, Italian, French architects, gardeners, sculptors, artists worked on them, and serfs were involved in the construction work. The architecture of the palace contains elements from different eras, and it was built in an unusual Gothic-Moorish style. The gray-green color of the Vorontsov Palace is explained by the fact that it was built from a special stone - diabase, which has a non-standard volcanic origin and is very durable. Imagine that Red Square in Moscow is paved with exactly the same Crimean diabase.

Alupka. Vorontsov Palace

The Vorontsov Palace is one of the most visited museums in Crimea, where personal belongings of the Vorontsov family are kept, and the interior has been preserved in the same style of the 19th century.

Alupka. Vorontsov Palace

Of course, nosy film directors could not ignore the palace. Many scenes and episodes were filmed in and around it, which later became part of films, some of them famous. These are the films “An Ordinary Miracle”, “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers”, “The Journey of Pan Blobs”, “Sky Swallows”, “Sappho”.

The park, created under the guidance of the meticulous German gardener Karl Kebach, deserves no less admiration. The area of the park including the palace is about 40 hectares.

In Vorontsovsky Park

In the lower part of the park there is an excellent embodiment of the architect’s idea - a tea house with columns and a fountain. And even lower you can go down to nice beach without any breakwaters, with large stones and natural baths with standing water and shallow depth. This beach is child-friendly, which is why it is called a children's beach.

There is a rock near the beach, the upper part of which is not pointed, but looks like a plateau and therefore is comfortable to sit on. It is called Aivazovsky’s rock, and the corresponding sign announces this. The rock was named for a reason: the great marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky loved to work on paintings while sitting on it.

The downside is that getting to the palace and park complex by car is problematic, since there are hardly any cars here and it is often difficult to miss each other due to the crowded conditions. And parking at the entrance to the complex is not cheap - 200 rubles for 2 hours. But a couple of hours is not enough to fully enjoy this unforgettable creation of man and nature.

Despite minor shortcomings, the Vorontsov Palace with the park of the same name is why people go to Alupka on excursions and stay there during the holidays.

A single ticket, which gives the right to visit all expositions and exhibitions of the palace and park complex, costs 300 rubles. For the right to take photos or videos, you need to pay an additional 30 rubles. And walk along palace park You can go with a guide for 50 rubles. Feel the amazing atmosphere of this unique object, which is the pride of Crimea!

Tasting room Massandra in Alupka

This is another excursion site in Alupka, where buses with tourists sometimes stop. It is located not far from the Vorontsov Palace, and you can go there even immediately after a walk through the palace and park complex.
During the tasting you will be offered 10 types of wines. They will talk about each of them in a fascinating way, telling about the history of winemaking in Crimea. Get ready and listen to a master class on wine etiquette - it will be informative and interesting. In total, the tasting takes about 45 minutes - you will not regret coming, and perhaps you will buy the types of wine you like in the branded store of the Massandra winery. The cost of tasting is affordable - 150 rubles.
