Bali which beach to choose. The best beaches in Bali for swimming

Cozy beach, cocktail with a straw, boundless blue sea, golden sand. Visually assessing the beach according to its parameters, we determine for ourselves:

  • nice beach, but waves;
  • excellent beach, but shallow water;
  • the sea and the beach are wonderful, but there are a lot of people or the location is inconvenient;
  • the beach is dirty, but the sea is good, etc.

The beaches of Bali are different. To have an idea of the beach areas and not be disappointed when planning a vacation, let’s get to know the beaches better. See the map of Bali beaches:

Beach Southwest

White sand beaches in Bali are a priority for the western and southern territories.

Long, noisy, crowded Kuta beach with developed infrastructure. With a sandy bottom, not very clean. There are budget accommodation and guesthouses. The vibrant life at night attracts young people. Mecca for surfers, several surf schools are designed for Russians.

The long and fashionable Legian beach continues the Kuta area. At low tide it becomes very wide. Good for trekking and jogging. Housing is more expensive than in Kuta. Not suitable for swimming, only for surfing. The infrastructure is well developed.

The wide and prestigious Seminyak beach begins behind Legian. The waves are high, there are a lot of surfers. Accommodation is expensive - respectable hotels and villas. There is a rental of beach accessories and surfboards.

Several kilometers of sandy strip - Jimbaran beach. There is shallow water near the shore, the depth begins further. The bottom is good. The tide "narrows" the beach to a thin strip. Along the beach there is a string of hotels with 4* and 5* status and fish restaurants.

It rightfully takes its place of honor on the list of the most beautiful beaches on the island (Dreamland beach). Fine sand, azure restless sea. There are always a lot of surfers here. The cozy cafes serve delicious food. Infrastructure developed.

The wide Balangan beach with fine yellowish sand is not crowded. The view of the beach and its “Martian land” along the coastline from a nearby cliff is attractive. There are cafes and sun loungers everywhere. Entering the water with shoes on makes it difficult to swim. But the photos of the beach are bright and surfers love the beach.

Small and calm Padang Padang beach. It was once a secret beach, only locals knew about it. Now popular. The shore is good and the waters are clear. There are few waves, which is unusual for the island of Bali. During peak season it is crowded. There are no sun loungers, only umbrellas can be rented. There is a modest cafe, tents with beach and bathing accessories. The highlight of the Blue Heaven hotel-restaurant, located at the height of the cliff, is the “pool running off the edge.” The beach is good for family vacation.

Bingin beach is suitable for surfing, nature lovers and romantic photo sessions. The bottom is sandy, there are waves and a lot of foam. There are several hotels with respectable infinity pools.

Snow-white Pandawa beach. Not crowded, suitable for swimming and sunbathing, but there are no hotels here. Extended territory, clear ocean waters. There is a walking path with a number of cafes along the beach; kayak rental; massage parlor. Natural stalactite caves, a functioning Balinese temple with statues - a piece of the beach...

White sandy Nikko beach. Uncrowded and sprawling. There is only 1 on the beach Grand Hotel Nikko. An atmosphere of relaxation, panoramic views of the volcano.

Geger beach is on the list of the best beaches. The ocean is clean, the beach is fine sand. The nearby breakwater and coral reef calm the sea. There are several cafes and entertainment - canoeing, snorkeling, windsurfing. Nearby hotels provide free shuttle service to the beach.

Beaches of Nusa Dua beach. There are many five-star hotels on their territory. Not everywhere on the beaches you can stay without being a hotel guest. Cleanliness and length, coastal shallow waters. Beach for swimming and windsurfing. When the tide goes out, shallow lagoons form. Suitable for romantics and families. Part of the beach area is sand spit Tanjung Benoa. Here they organize attractive walks along the seabed in spacesuits.

Perfect surfing

Which beach is best for surfing is difficult to answer. Surfing is the island's specialty. Changgu beach. Both surfing gurus and beginners catch waves here. The structure of the bottom contributes to the formation of a more powerful and higher wave than in Kuta. Housing is available. Some hotels have their own area with sun loungers. Many cozy cafes.

Echo beach is Canggu's neighbor. The border between them is a Balinese temple. There is a bar-cafe. Conditions are favorable for surfing.

Uluwatu Beach (also known as Suluban) is hidden between the rocks. Flooded by the tide. High waves attract experienced surfers. The infrastructure is developed and adapted for them. There is a cafe on the cliff, which offers magnificent ocean panoramas.

Coast of the southeast

Long Sanur beach. The waters near the shore are shallow and the sea is calm. Excellent conditions for children. Expensive coastal hotels, cafes/restaurants. There is cheap housing in the village of Sanur. Good snorkeling and diving. There is a pedestrian and bicycle path along the coast. Romantic gazebos adorn the breakwaters. Area attractions include a safari park and beautiful waterfall. The famous Agung is visible from the beach.

The clean Blue Lagoon beach is suitable for scuba diving. A narrow coastal strip, flooded by the tide. At an altitude of 2-3 m there is a platform with a cafe and a massage parlor.

Candidasa beach. Calm, black and rocky, not suitable for beach holiday. Chandidas’ specialty is “absolute beach front” private villas with infinity pools and panoramas of the azure ocean. “Beach front” is a villa or hotel where foreign tourists are allowed to rest on the beach. The “absolute” option involves personal access to the sea.

Beaches of East and North Bali

Black sand beaches in Bali are located in the northern and eastern island territories.

Amed beach is rocky and “black”. The sea is calm. Corals and exotic living creatures can be found already 5 m from the coastline, so snorkeling here is excellent.

Tulamben beach was chosen by “submariners”-divers. The object for beginners is a sunken ship 30 m from the shore.

White Sand beach is a strip of white sand with black sand and volcanic patches. Sea water is transparent, there are no waves. The beach is not crowded due to its distance from the centers of Balinese tourism. There are a dozen cozy restaurants and cafes; they provide their guests with umbrellas, towels, snorkeling equipment, and sun loungers free of charge. In the east of the island, this is the only beach that is suitable for swimming and sunbathing. Picturesque rocks are natural beach border. There is no housing near the beach.

The wide beaches of northern Bali are united by the name Lovina beach. There is a yellow sandy beach with black and gray volcanic sand. The ocean does not worry, housing is available. Nice beach for kids. Cafes and restaurants always have fresh seafood. A walk to the dolphins is one of the most attractive beach activities. To do this, boats go out to sea from the Lovina pier.

The beaches of northwestern Bali are located near the village of Pemuteran, far from civilization.

The simple Pondok Vienna Beach Hotel and the beach of the same name are located in the village of Bunutan. Leaving the room, walking 15-20 steps along the black and white sand, you find yourself in the sea. But the price of the room is much more expensive.

Secluded beaches

Extended and wild beach Nyang Nyang is popular among surfers. You can get to it by going down the stairs from the cliff, passing through tropical thickets, overcoming more than 500 steps. White sand and the endless blue-turquoise ocean. In some places the bottom looks like a lunar landscape - rocky with indentations.

Unlike other beaches on the island, you can go kayaking here in the Indian Ocean.

General description of the beaches

According to Indonesian laws, beaches in Bali cannot be purchased as private property, because most of them are public. Only a few prestigious first-line hotels have protected coastal areas where outsiders are not allowed. On the island you can find both crowded and secluded beaches. There are long strips of sand stretching for several kilometers, and very tiny sections of the coast, where you can only go at low tide. Some beaches are popular among locals, while others are visited mainly by tourists.

To choose perfect beach To relax, you need to know the following:

  • What is his appearance
  • What is it suitable for?

Now let's look at each of these points.

What Balinese beaches look like

You can find very different coastlines on the island. I would recommend visiting a few beaches to better understand the diversity of the island.

But when choosing a specific vacation spot, you should pay attention to the following points:

  • Sand color
  • Wave height
  • Cleanliness of the city
  • Infrastructure

So, here are the main differences between the beaches, in terms of their appearance.

Sand

The island's beaches do not always correspond to a tourist's idea of a tropical paradise. The sand here comes in different colors:

  • White
  • Yellow or golden
  • Grey
  • Black

There are two active volcano. The ash that is formed during their eruption ends up on the beaches. The eastern coast is closest to the volcanoes, so the sand here is black. In the north it has a grayer tint. In general, in Bali, white sand beaches can only be found on the Bukit Peninsula and small islands located nearby (Nusa Penida, Lembongan, Gili). On the southern coast - in Kuta and Seminyak - the sand is yellow-gray. In Sanur and Nusa Dua- white and golden, but it is not natural, but imported.

The structure of sand also varies. Black volcanic - mostly fine, sticks to wet bodies and hands. Although there are beaches with fairly coarse black sand, reminiscent of very small pebbles. White sand on Bukit can be both large and small. Gray consists of different factions. Except sandy beaches, on east coast The islands are rocky. They are covered with black cobblestones of different sizes.

Waves

It’s not for nothing that the island is called a mecca for surfers. Due to the special structure of the bottom and coral reefs near the shore, quite high waves are formed on local coasts.

They are divided into three types:

  1. Close-outs - closed waves, suitable for riding in foam, quite dangerous when their height reaches two meters or more
  2. Flat waves (Spilling waves) – typical for the coast with a slight bottom slope, do not form pipes, suitable for beginner surfers
  3. Plunging waves - fast waves that break to form a pipe, suitable for advanced and professional surfers

The height and type of wave depend on the tides and wind direction. In the southwestern part of the island, the waves are higher in the dry season, as southeast winds blow here at this time. On the opposite coast, the ocean is more agitated during the rainy season due to southwest winds. High waves are more characteristic of the southern tip of the island. The best beaches in this sense are the beaches of the Bukit Peninsula, Kuta and Seminyak.

However, you can also find calm places with small waves. Most of them are located in the north of the island, near the resort of Lovina. Eat good places on the east and southeast coast - first of all, this is the resort of Sanur. There are low waves on some beaches of the Bukit Peninsula - Padang Padang, Jimbar an, Nusa Dua.

Purity

It’s interesting that you can find completely opposite reviews about the same beach. Some visitors write that it is almost perfectly clean, others talk about terrible dirt. In fact, it all depends on the location, infrastructure and season.

Conventionally, I would divide the beaches according to cleanliness into several categories:

  • Guarded beaches near hotels are the cleanest. Garbage is removed from the coast several times a day.
  • Public beaches with well-developed infrastructure are quite clean. Garbage is removed in the morning and evening.
  • Public beaches with poor infrastructure - cleanliness depends on the time of day and season. There is less garbage in the morning than in the evening; it can be very dirty during the rainy season.
  • Wild, secluded beaches can be either clean or dirty - it all depends on the location and season. But on such coasts, garbage left by tourists is less common. Most often it's just algae.

It is important to note that during the peak rainy season (from late January to early March) almost all beaches are dirty. The sea brings a lot of garbage, and they don’t even have time to clean up the coastline. prestigious resorts. Of course, tourists who visited one of the beaches at this time will not leave the best reviews about it.

There is one more nuance - according to local religion, the ocean is considered sacred place. People come here to make offerings to the gods. Fishermen do not go to sea without this ritual. On many beaches you can see small altars where locals bring their ritual gifts in the form of wreaths of flowers, herbs, twigs and fruits. Especially many offerings are made in Balinese New Year when religious ceremonies are traditionally held by the sea. Over time, the wreaths dry up, are blown away by the wind, float out to sea, but then return back.

But the remains of ritual offerings cannot be compared with what vacationers leave on the shore. Bottles, bags, plastic dishes - all this again ends up on the coast during high tide. Some beaches have concrete piers. Garbage adjacent to these piers lingers for a long time, interfering with swimming.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of the beaches on the island is very different. In guarded areas near hotels, the all-inclusive principle applies; here you can find any services. There are many public beaches with fully or partially developed infrastructure. There are also completely wild places, where there is nothing but sea and sand.

Based on infrastructure development, beaches are conventionally divided into the following types:

  • Well developed infrastructure
On these beaches you can rent sunbeds, umbrellas, surfboards, equipment for diving, snorkeling and other types of recreation. They offer a lot here interesting entertainment– beach volleyball, banana boat rides, jet skis and much more. The infrastructure also includes lifeguard stations, showers, and toilets. There are cafes and restaurants near the coast or on the beach itself. All places of this type are paid, prices fluctuate widely. A separate category includes guarded beaches near hotels, where outsiders are not allowed.
Beaches with the best infrastructure are located in the resorts of Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Sanur. In the east and north of the island similar places can only be found near hotels.

  • Moderately developed infrastructure
These beaches provide many of the services listed above. But there may be no lifeguard station, sun lounger rentals or recreational equipment, and sometimes no shower or toilet. Cafes can be represented by a small bar, a shop with local dishes or fast food.
Beaches with moderately developed infrastructure can be found anywhere on the island. Most of them are in the east and north (in Lovina), there are such places on the Bukit Peninsula, the islands of Lembongan and Nusa Penida

  • Wild beaches with no infrastructure at all
There are a lot of wild or secret beaches in Bali. They are located on the east coast as well as on the Bukit Peninsula. There are several secluded spots on the islands of Gili, Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Tourists don’t know about some of them at all.

What types of recreation are the local beaches suitable for?

In fact, you can do anything here. The beaches of Bali are suitable for swimming, surfing, diving and snorkeling, various sports, and just for walking along the coastline.

Here are the main types of recreation:

  • Surfing and its varieties (windsurfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing)
Best places for surfing – South coast islands, including the Bukit Peninsula. At the same time, I recommend going to the southwestern beaches during the dry season, and to the southeastern beaches during the rainy season. This has to do with the direction of the wind.
Kitesurfing (riding a board behind a boat) and windsurfing (swimming on a board with a sail) are more developed in the north, in Sanur, Tanjung Benoa and Nusa Dua. The waves here are small, so they are suitable for this type of beach entertainment.
  • Diving and snorkeling
The best beaches for snorkeling are in the north (Court Lovina) and east of the island (Amed, Candidasa, Tulamben). There are excellent places on the nearby islands.
  • Swimming
Not all beaches are suitable for swimming due to high waves or rocky bottoms. You can swim in some places on the Bukit Peninsula, on the Gili Islands. The most popular resorts in this regard are Sanur, Nusa Dua and Lovina.
  • Sports beach activities (volleyball, jet ski, flyboarding, etc.)
Main centers sports entertainment The beaches of Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua and Sanur are considered. They don't big waves and well developed infrastructure. There are also many beach activities in Kuta and Seminyak.
  • respects. Determine for yourself 1-2 main criteria by which you will look for a beach. When you find several options, you can pay attention to other characteristics that are less important to you. If you follow this principle, there is a chance to find the optimal beach for yourself.

IN best beaches in Bali included the coasts of the island, which stand out from the rest with their developed infrastructure, beautiful landscapes or ideal conditions for beach and have a relaxing holiday.

reveals the top ten beaches of Bali. Seminyak is not intended for beach holidays and couples with children. This resort is a popular place for parties and entertainment for every taste. Seminyak is located next to two popular beaches where recreation is provided according to the same type - these are Kuta and Legian. In fact, there is no clear boundary between these three beaches, and they represent one whole. Together they cover a length of more than ten kilometers. Fans of surfing and other water sports will find something to their liking in Seminyak. Here, as well as on the two nearest beaches, there is an ideally developed infrastructure.

included in the list of the best beaches in Bali. The beach resort designed for those who are in search of the best and brightest entertainment. It borders two other famous beaches - Seminyak and Kuta. Here you will not find untouched, picturesque nature. This is a completely civilized resort with many nightclubs, bars, cafes, restaurants, hotel complexes, spa centers, gyms, massage rooms, banks, currency exchange offices, rental points for bicycle equipment, motorbikes, etc. Life on Legian is in full swing, so this place is well suited for tourists who love noisy parties and want to relax to the fullest. Legian is also a favorite place for surfers.

The most popular beach in Bali with excellent infrastructure. Kuta is a real find for surfing fans and a complete disappointment for couples with children. The thing is that many people choose this place to relax because of its popularity and all kinds of services provided here for every taste, but they do not take into account the fact that Kuta is not very suitable for swimming in the sea due to constant large waves. Surfers and people who want to learn this sport come here. Fans of parties and nightlife will also note the charm of this place. A huge variety of hotels, shops, restaurants and cafes provide their services to guests for every taste and budget.

The most beautiful and picturesque beach Bali. But it is worth considering that it is unlikely to be suitable for swimming, since large waves are almost always present here. But Dreamland is an ideal place for surfing. This is where fans of this extreme and breathtaking sport come every year. Golden, soft, warm sand, emerald waves of the ocean and gentle rays of the sun and almost untouched nature - this is what Dreamland can boast of. In addition, this coast has a fairly developed infrastructure with various cafes, hotels, shops, etc.

One of the best and most beautiful beaches in Bali with volcanic sand. Lovina is not only very picturesque, but also cozy, quiet place for a beach holiday. The local infrastructure is very well developed: hotel complexes, restaurants, cafes, shops, discos, cinemas - all this is located within walking distance from the beach area. Water activities include diving and snorkeling. This is not the place for surfers, as there are no big waves here. Popular entertainment options include dolphin watching on boat rides and swimming in the pool with these amazing marine animals. The downside of Lovina is the lack of a rescue point. Otherwise, this is an almost ideal place to relax.

One of the best beaches in Bali for swimming. Here you can have a pleasant relaxation both in the company of friends and with the whole family. Benoa offers a huge amount of entertainment for every taste and budget. A large number of cafes, bars and restaurants, shops and a huge number of water activities (windsurfing, diving, parasailing, kayaking, etc.) are concentrated here. In addition to its well-developed infrastructure, Benoa boasts amazingly beautiful landscapes.

Semi-wild and very beautiful beach Bali, which is designed for swimming. There are no high waves or loud parties here, so people often come here to relax with children. There are no sun loungers on the territory of Padang-Padang, but you won’t need them, since the coast is covered with clean, soft, snow-white sand. There is a bar near the coast, and there is also equipment rental for aquatic species sports

The elite and most picturesque beach of Bali, intended exclusively for swimming. Here vacationers will not find any bars or shopping centers, unlike other popular local coastlines for recreation. In addition, Nusa Dua will not be affordable for everyone - prices here are higher than on any other coast. But here it is incredibly beautiful and calm, there is a well-developed infrastructure. This paradise is literally isolated from the rest of the island. Vacationers will find everything here: services for various types of water sports, a souvenir shop, a spa center, a gym, elite restaurants and much more. This place is definitely worth choosing for those for whom comfortable stay above all.

One of the best places in Bali for a beach and family holiday. There are practically no waves here, so nothing will stop vacationers from swimming for fun. It occupies an area three kilometers long and fifty meters wide. This is a very picturesque beach with clean sand, greenery and beautiful, mesmerizing sunsets. There are restaurants and cafes along the coastline, and local markets and shops are nearby. For gourmets, there are special fish restaurants with a huge selection of seafood dishes. You can have a delicious dinner right on the sea coast. Jimbaran offers not only a relaxing and comfortable holiday, but also an inexpensive one.

The best beach in Bali for swimming. This place is quite suitable for families with children. In addition, Sanur differs from other beaches in its relatively low prices for hotel services. This is a fairly calm resort that will definitely please those who do not like noisy parties and nightlife. Sanur consists of several small beaches. Ideal holiday destinations are those located near hotels. There are umbrellas and sun loungers that can be rented for a fee. Water lovers can take advantage of services such as skiing and motorcycling. Anyone can also go snorkeling or diving.

A holiday in Bali is probably every tourist's dream. Yes, it’s not surprising - who would refuse warm fine sand underfoot, a light breeze, a smiling sun, an exotic cocktail and an unforgettable view of the clear, glassy sea? But, as they say, we only go for a walk once in a lifetime, and it is important not to miss when choosing a vacation spot. That's why we decided to create this article dedicated to.

Nusa Dua Beach – a bit boring, but high quality

Nusa Dua is a closed beach area, so if you plan to spend your entire vacation in this area, then you may easily find it boring to relax in Bali.

Nusa Dua is the closest resort from the airport and can be reached by toll road. To get to the territory itself, you need to go through thorns to the stars, as they say. After all, formidable guards will stop you, rummage through the trunk and let you go with God. Or they won’t react to you at all. It depends on the luck of the tourist himself.

The entire area of the resort is divided between ten hotels. That is why it is always so clean and comfortable here. You definitely won’t suffer from a lack of sun loungers or the company of Russian tourists. The interesting thing is that there are practically no annoying merchants on the beach. All hotels provide high-quality service, for which, of course, they charge a lot of money. They also rent out kayaks or surfing equipment.

The distance from the walking trail to the sea varies from 30 to 70 meters, which is not bad when you want to drown your bare feet in the rough sand. Low tides are not a rare phenomenon here. In some places there is still enough water, but mostly there is not, since even at high tide the shore is quite shallow.

In addition, in the center of this tourist world there is a huge shopping center where you can go shopping, go to the spa, eat at an excellent restaurant, visit the ocean museum or watch a performance in traditional Indonesian style.

Balangan Beach - place of majestic waves

Balangan is a paradise for surf lovers. Moreover, it is unlikely that this place is suitable for beginners, since the waves are often quite powerful. But for experienced craftsmen there will always be something to do here.

The resort area itself looks very attractive - stone gorges entwined with grass branches, relief structure of the surface under water, frozen volcanic magma in the depressions of the island. When the tides come, the water goes very far, and the multi-colored rock is completely exposed. Anyone who managed to see such beauty can rightfully be proud, because this phenomenon is by no means common.

Beach lovers will have a bad time here: during high tides, the water completely covers the sand, and it becomes impossible to soak up the sun. Moreover, Balangan is not the best place for families with children: there is a lot of algae and depressions under the water, and there are a lot of rocks around that a child can get hurt on.

However, even then the activists will not be left without something to do - try local cuisine in a restaurant, play golf, buy exotic fruits in a supermarket, photograph romantic landscapes...

As for the place of residence, experienced tourists recommend staying with private owners who rent out small houses or even bungalows. Hotels have recently begun to charge too much from visitors. It’s enough that a considerable amount of money was paid for the entrance.

Kuta Beach is the most popular resort in Bali

Anyone who has not heard of Kuta has not heard of Bali. These two concepts are inextricably linked, and Indonesia would not be Indonesia if it did not have such a wonderful piece of land in its composition.

Previously, Kuta was an inconspicuous village, but now tourists from all over the world come here every year. According to reviews, there are the most wonderful beaches, a complete absence of reefs, a gentle entrance to the sea, warm ocean water and the most beautiful sunsets in the whole country. The only drawback of Kuta is the frequent occurrence of fairly strong waves. This is a plus for surfers, but a minus for those who want to swim.

But it’s not just the sandy strip that attracts tourists. The town is designed to satisfy the slightest needs of every visitor. If you want to enroll in a surf school - please, buy clothes in a first-class boutique or a bunch of souvenirs - as much as you like, experience all the delights of a traditional massage - with joy! And at night you can visit numerous discos and clubs. And yes, don’t forget to visit the famous four-story shopping mall"Mata Hari".

Keramas Beach – the black pearl of Bali

Denpasar Airport is the starting point for many tourists. If you go south, you will end up in Kuta, if you go east, you will end up in Keramas. This is a small town that is not particularly popular among travelers, but for surfers it will be a real discovery. It takes about 15 minutes to get here from Denpasar itself. Take a look at this wonderful beach and you won’t regret it.

The infrastructure is very poorly developed; all you can see all around is fine black sand and rough water. The waves here are fast and strong - catching one in your snare will be a great challenge for an adventurous surfer.

You need to come to Keramas during the rainy season (from November to March). The air humidity is then approximately 95%, and the air temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius. Then the winds blow from west to east and drive waves straight towards extreme sports enthusiasts.

Lovina Beach - Catch a Dolphin if You Can

Lovina is an Indonesian resort that is washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. An ideal option for lovers of the unusual, since the sand here, unlike most beaches, is black. Tourists like to come here in the summer - from mid-June to August.

You need to get to Lovina from Kuta by car or taxi. The journey takes about 3 hours, but it's worth it.

There is more than enough entertainment here. However, the most popular are:

  • diving;
  • snorkeling;
  • dolphin watching.

In addition, we recommend renting a bicycle and exploring the local villages. Previously, there were fishing villages here, which have now practically disappeared. Despite this, echoes of the past still hang in the air of this wonderful place. The entire sidewalk along the embankment is pink - this is the first landmark to understand where the beginning and end of the resort are.

Prices for rooms and other services in Lovina are slightly lower than on other beaches.

The name "Lovina" comes from two words - the English love (to love) and the Indonesian ina (mother). Lovina literally means “loving mother earth.”

Secret Beach - an elusive place for elusive travelers

The “secret” beach is the beach of the Padang Bai resort. In our opinion, this is one of the most beautiful and most mysterious places all over the planet. When does it start tourist season When in Bali, check out this place first. Moreover, it is not so far from Kuta – just an hour’s drive by car.

By the way, an interesting fact is that there is no parking as such on Bias Tugal (another name for the secret beach). The resort area is hidden from prying eyes by high cliffs, so you can simply drive through it if you are not familiar with the area. Since there is no other way to get to the island, as soon as you go down from the cliff, you need to leave your cars at the top.

The beach itself is not crowded (although not deserted), very quiet - only the mesmerizing sound of the surf can be heard. There are cafes and shops with souvenirs scattered nearby. But there are very few of them and they don’t take up much space. Finding a sun lounger here will be quite problematic, and a hotel will be completely impossible. But if you want to stay on the beach for a while, you should rent a room in a hotel in Padang Bai - it’s very close.

Green Bowl Beach - a world away from civilization

Green Bowl, like Beas Tougaloo, is hidden from prying eyes by high cliffs. To get to the sandy strip, you need to go down a steep cliff. This can be a little annoying, so this beach is not suitable for families.

Letting children swim is also risky – coral reefs can damage a child’s delicate skin. Those who want to soak up the rays of the sun will find it wonderful here, but they should come during the dry season, for example, in October or May, because the resort is known for the large number of strong waves during high tides.

The infrastructure is practically undeveloped - a point with exotic fruits, a shop with refreshing drinks, a shower and one toilet. For lovers of a relaxing holiday, Green Bowl is a great option.

Dreamland Beach - the land where dreams come true

Like most developed resorts, Dreamland used to be a small village inhabited by ordinary Indonesians. Several decades ago, the country's authorities decided to transform most of the island into a tourist area. The process was lengthy, since financial crises often occurred in Indonesia, but with grief, the first shops and hotels were completed. The beach was nicknamed “a fabulous place” due to its favorable location and beautiful scenery.

Indonesia is a Muslim country and imposes restrictions on things that are familiar to us. For example, you cannot sell alcoholic beverages or wear revealing women's clothing. The territory of Dreamland is not subject to these rules: international law applies here.

The best way to get to the beach is from Kuta or Nusa Dua. If you go by bike or motorcycle, the journey will take only half an hour.

The area itself is surrounded by cliffs covered with emerald tropical vegetation. The sand is fine and golden, at the foot of the reefs it is blackish. The ground under water is covered with stones. Strong winds often blow here, bringing with them high waves. Surf professionals won't get bored here.

Numerous flags indicate that swimming is not allowed here, except sometimes during low tides.

The infrastructure is developed at top level, so although you won’t be able to swim, you can always find another activity to your liking. There is a golf course here. It is located above a strip of sand and offers a stunning view of the sea. You can also try Balinese cuisine in local cafes (where prices, by the way, are very inflated) or update your wardrobe. Show business stars often come to Dreamland to film videos and newlyweds for their honeymoon.

There are a lot of hotels near the beach - you can choose from a cheap, inconspicuous bungalow, or luxury, expensive apartments with a swimming pool.

Dreamland is rightfully considered the hottest beach in Bali. For people with heart problems or those simply sensitive to heat, it is better to choose another place to relax.

Dzhemeluk Beach – reveals itself better from under the water

The east coast of the island is not as popular with tourists as the south. The situation is further aggravated by the black sand underfoot. But there is no less entertainment here, and the landscapes are perhaps even more attractive. The main advantage of Dzhemeluk Beach is the absence of strong waves. But this is only for those plus tourists who like swimming and sunbathing.

There are several Balinese villages scattered nearby and huge rice fields. How can you learn more about the life and culture of the people you are interested in, if not by strolling through the narrow streets of the village?

But the main activity in the Amed area can be called snorkeling. The water is so clear and azure that there is absolutely no desire to get out of there, and the reefs with colorful fish wandering between the huge corals will be etched in the memory of any tourist.

White Sand Beach - the black sheep of the black east

White Sand is the only beach on the east coast of Bali where the sand is not black, but white. Or, to be precise, grayish due to the admixture of volcanic rock. Getting to this beach is not so easy - it is hidden behind tall trees and piles of stones. Only a small blue sign “Virgin Beach” (another name for this beach) indicates that you are on the right track.

White Sand Beach is a very beautiful crescent-shaped beach, framed on all sides by cliffs. There are plenty of tourists here: for some this is a plus, for others a minus, but despite this, there is enough space for everyone.

The infrastructure is well developed, although you can’t tell by the name (virgin is translated from English as “innocent”). The beach itself is located far from villages and cities, so cafes, showers and shops are very welcome here.

White Sand is a great place for swimming and swimming as the waves are very small. The descent into the water is gentle, there are practically no stones.

That's all. Our selection is complete. Of course, it is impossible to describe all corners of Bali, but we have highlighted the most beautiful places on the island and talked about them with love and respect. And we wish everyone who wants to visit Bali to quickly fulfill their dream, because a more beautiful place on Earth cannot be found.

The island of Bali is famous for its beaches; there are several dozen of them. However, not everything can be considered for swimming. Most of the beaches are in demand among surfers and are absolutely not suitable for water procedures. Therefore, especially for you, I have made a selection of the best beaches on the island, which are relatively calm. Favorable conditions have been created here for relaxation even with small children.

This is one of the most famous beaches in the southern part of the resort. It combines unique nature, warm ocean water and great hotels. Thousands of tourists from all over the world come here every year. The name of the beach translates as “two islands”. Nearby are the islands of Peninsula and Nusa Dharma.

Tourism on the beach began to develop only in the 70s of the last century. This idea was achieved through the joint efforts of the local population and foreign investors. The resort began to develop at a rapid pace, deserted areas turned into closed sections of the beach, near which luxury hotels and shopping and entertainment centers began to be built.

Nusa Dua Beach is 3 kilometers long. It is famous for its clean yellow sand and gentle entrance to the ocean. The tourist infrastructure here is well developed, and the water in the ocean is a pleasing azure color. There is a coral reef near the shore, which serves as a barrier from strong waves.

The beach provides excellent conditions for families with children to relax. Hotel staff regularly monitor order on the coastline; a sufficient number of sun loungers and umbrellas are installed. In the central part of the beach there are many themed restaurants where you can taste real culinary masterpieces national cuisine. However, the prices are a little high.

To the number best hotels for recreation include:

Geger Beach

The beach is located on the Bukit Peninsula. Near the shore there is a coral reef that acts as a breakwater. It protects the coast from strong winds, allowing even small children to swim in the ocean. There are sometimes waves, but they gently roll onto the coast and do not bring any discomfort to vacationers.

The entrance to the water is gentle. The sand on the beach is light and consists of large grains of sand. The bottom of the shore is also sandy, there are no stones or shells. High water clarity and a rich underwater world make it possible to surf and explore the local beauty.

There are no large crowds of people on Geger, unlike Nusa Dua. The beach infrastructure is well developed. There are umbrellas and sun loungers along the coast, which can be rented for an additional fee.

Due to the fact that there is a fishing village nearby, boats and vessels are often visible on the horizon. The disadvantages also include a large number of algae that washes up from the ocean. Their numbers especially increase during the rainy season.

Most of the hotels are concentrated on the first coastline. Some of the best include:

Nikko Beach

The beach is located on the Bukit Peninsula, steps away from Geger and Nusa Dua. This is a classic beach in southern Bali. The coastal line is covered with snow-white sand, and the clearest water creates the most favorable conditions for water procedures. To get to the shore, you need to walk along a small cliff, at the top of which there is a parking lot.

Nikko Beach pleases with its picturesque landscapes. From the shore you can admire the views of the volcano, the main beauty of which opens in the morning. Newlyweds often have wedding photo sessions on the beach. The coastline is famous for its cleanliness; there are two piers.

The waves off the coast are almost imperceptible; in addition, the ebb and flow of the tides are imperceptible on Nikko. Locals It is advised to swim during high water. There may be undercurrents further from the shore, so it is not recommended to leave your children unattended. There are no hotels on the beach; a good option can be booked in neighboring Nusa Dua. Among them:

Padang Padang Beach

Another beach where you can safely go on vacation with children of any age. It is famous for its safe swimming conditions and well-developed infrastructure. The entrance to the ocean is gentle, there are no sharp jumps or drops, which provides peace of mind for parents and opportunities for swimming for children.

The beach became especially popular after the famous film “Eat. Pray. Love”, since it was here that several beautiful episodes from the film were filmed. In this regard, every guest of the island tries to visit the coast.

The beach is also attractive for surfers. Both beginners and experienced athletes come here. Every year Padang Padang hosts the Rip Curl Padang Padang surfing competition.

To get to the shore, you need to walk along picturesque gorge. The coast consists of light sand, the water in the ocean is azure in color, the entrance to the water is smooth and calm. Waves are observed only in July, but they do not reach the shore.

The beach is small, so sometimes it may seem as if it is crowded. There are no sun loungers, only umbrellas are installed on the shore, which can be rented for 100 thousand rupees per day. Therefore, to sit on the sand, do not forget to grab a mat or towel. Entrance to the beach is paid, the cost is 10,000 rupees per person.

Personally, I really liked the beach, despite the large number of vacationers and the entrance fee. It has become my favorite place for a beach holiday.

Pandawa Beach

This is one of the youngest beaches, open to tourists for only a few years. It is surrounded on all sides by a canyon, inside of which a road to the coast has been cut. You can get to the shore either by car or by bike. At the entrances there is an observation deck from which a stunning view of the entire Pandawa beach opens.

The coastal strip is formed by light yellowish sand. There are not many plants, and those that exist are concentrated in oases.

The water here is clean and has a turquoise tint. The bottom is clearly visible even at depth, which creates favorable conditions for snorkeling. Along the shore, the bottom is covered with coarse sand, a little further there are small stones, algae and corals. There are strong ebbs and flows here. During high tide, the water can rise up to 1.5 meters.

The infrastructure is well developed. Umbrellas and sun loungers are installed (if desired, you can always sit right on the sand), there are bio-toilets and showers. A little further from the coast there are cafes offering both national and European cuisine.

There are no hotels on the beach itself; they are located 15-20 minutes drive from the coast. Among them:

Sanur Beach

The beach is located southeast of Denpasar and has a length of 5 kilometers. It is quite quiet, which is why retirees and couples with children come here. It was from here that the development of the tourism industry in Bali as a whole began.

Not far from the coast there is a coral reef and several breakwaters. Due to this, a water area is created that is reliably protected from strong waves. The sand along the shore is of artificial origin. It was specially brought here for tourist purposes.

The entrance to the ocean is gentle and there are noticeable ebbs and flows. The water is light green, with algae found in it a little further from the shore. Therefore, swimming is not very comfortable for an adult.

There are no hotels with private beaches in Sanur; all of them are public. The infrastructure includes sunbeds, umbrellas, toilets, changing rooms and showers. There are many restaurants and cafes along the shore. The number of visitors increases in the late afternoon when tourists come here to enjoy a romantic dinner.

Popular hotels include the following:

  • The Alantara Sanur;

Bias Tugal Beach

You can often hear that the beach is called secret. It got its name due to the fact that it is surrounded on all sides by rocks. If you look from above, you will have a view of the harbor and the cliffs, and if you don’t know that there is a coastal strip there, then driving through the beach will not be difficult.

It's incredible here beautiful nature. Tropical vegetation reveals itself in all its glory against the backdrop of the turquoise ocean. Due to the fact that transport cannot drive up to the shore itself, silence and tranquility reign here. The infrastructure on the beach is poorly developed. There is a small shelter for vacationers, there are several cafes with light snacks and refreshments, and a toilet. But you have to pay 5,000 rupees for it.

The ocean at the beach is generally calm and safe for swimming. But sometimes big waves rise, water floods almost the entire beach area and swimming and sunbathing becomes difficult.

There are no hotels on the beach, the closest ones are located a 15-20 minute walk from it:

  • Villa Manouria-Marcel;
  • Villa Suari;

We got to know the best beaches for swimming in Bali. Most of them have well-developed infrastructure and attract travelers of all ages.
