Tel aviv eilat distance how to get there. Israel private tour guide

On my trip to Israel, I decided to get to the Israeli side of the Red Sea and visit Eilat. And before going on a trip, I figured out how to overcome the route in the best way.

To Eilat by car

Tel Aviv and Eilat are separated by 355 km, which can be traveled by car in almost 4 hours.

Of course, you will have to rent a car, and you can do this in Tel Aviv, for example.

To travel in Israel by car, you must have an international driver's license and car insurance. In addition, driving experience must be at least 1 year, and the age of the driver must be over 24 years. And it should be noted that car rental services will also ask you for international data credit card, on which they will block approximately $1000 as a deposit until the car is returned.

Almost the entire journey to Eilat from Tel Aviv lies on a two-lane concrete road through the Negev desert. Therefore, keep in mind that there are a lot of serpentines, sharp descents and sharp turns on the route.

The section of the route along Highway No. 6 from Lod to Rahat is paid, and you will have to pay about 11 shekels or 200 rubles for driving along it. In Israel, by the way, there are no toll booths. Before entering the paid section the traffic camera simply takes a photo of the car number and the bill comes to the home address (or the address of the rental agency).

For the whole journey to Eilat, you will need at least 35 liters of fuel, which will cost about 4150 rubles. Fuel in Israel is much more expensive than in Russia - $1.73/l.

By bus to Eilat

You can quickly and comfortably get to Eilat from Tel Aviv by bus.

Numerous Egged buses depart daily from the Tel Aviv Bus Station, located at 108 Levinsky Street. They follow routes No. 390, No. 393 and No. 394 and overcome their way to the Eilat Central Bus Station in an average of 5 hours and 10 minutes.

Buses run according to the following schedule:

  • from Sunday to Thursday from 06:30 am to 23:58 with an interval of 1.5–2 hours:
  • Friday from 06:30 am to 03:01 pm;
  • on Saturday from 11:00 to 23:58.

So before planning a trip, I advise you to once again check the schedule on the website of the Egged carrier.

Large Mercedes or Volvo buses with air conditioning, free internet and USB sockets for charging phones follow the route, and there are several short stops along the way. So the bus trip will be quite comfortable.

Ticket price

A trip to Eilat by bus from Tel Aviv will cost only 70 shekels or 1285 rubles.

Buying tickets

You can buy tickets on the sixth floor of the Tel Aviv bus station. I do not advise you to buy tickets on the website of the carrier company, because tickets can only be issued on the website in Hebrew, and this version is incomprehensible even with the browser's automatic translator.

By plane to Eilat

You can easily and quickly get to Eilat from Tel Aviv by plane.

Every day, 2-3 direct flights of Arkia Israeli Airlines fly from Tel Aviv Airport to Eilat. The planes cover their way in just 1 hour.

In addition, Israir also operates direct flights to Eilat on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

And Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport is just 14 km from the city center, and it can be reached from the main railway station Tel Aviv Ha "Hagana (32 HaHagana Way) by direct trains in 11 minutes.

Trains run at intervals of 30 minutes from 05:01 to 20:39, and at intervals of 1 hour from 21:46 to 05:01. I advise you to check the schedule on the website "Israeli railways».

Ticket price

You can find flights to Eilat at a price of only 21 euros (1580 rubles). A trip to the airport will cost 15 shekels or 275 rubles by train.

Buying tickets

I recommend buying tickets from Tel Aviv to Eilat on the official websites of carriers Arkia Israeli Airlines and Israir, or look for cheap tickets, for example.

Conclusion

It is convenient to get from Tel Aviv to Eilat by bus, and besides, it is inexpensive. But since I found cheap flights, I chose the plane. But you won’t be able to get to Eilat by train, because the railway tracks are not laid there.

At first I did not want to write this article at all. Why? Yes, because everything is simple here. There are only a few direct buses from Tel Aviv to Eilat, and there are no special secrets here. All you need is to come to the station, buy a ticket and get on the bus. And I will tell you step by step how to do this in my today's article.

Tel Aviv Central Bus Station (Tahana Merkazit)

To begin with, the main Tel Aviv bus station is located at Levinsky-108 and is one of the worst examples of the world's railway station building. Firstly, it is located in a green area, where there are some homeless people and emigrants from all sides.

Secondly, the station itself is very old (you go there and seem to fall into the past for 20-30 years). There are only films about the zombie apocalypse to shoot (against the background of the respectable skyscrapers of the rest of Tel Aviv, this place made a very strong impression on me).

And the third... The most important thing: the station itself is very large and confusing. Getting lost there is easy. Therefore, find the inner ninja in yourself - and constantly be on the alert. I'm serious. Otherwise, you will wander around this station forever.

Ticket offices and windows with the inscription "Information" are located at the Tel Aviv bus station on the 6th floor. To find them - just step towards the escalators. I repeat: do not wander through the corridors and shopping areas, but always look for escalators with your eyes. They - like the star of Bethlehem - will show you the way.

Station working hours: from 5 am to midnight.

Bus to Eilat

All information provided in this article is advisory and subject to change. Israeli carriers do not consult with me. Therefore, before you go to the station, go to the website egged.co.il and check the flight schedule there.

As for me personally, I bought tickets to Eilat at the same Tahana Merkazit station (Central bus station). December 2018 the fare from Tel Aviv to the Red Sea coast was 70 shekels(16.5 euros).

There are several buses from Tel Aviv to Eilat at once (390, 393, 394, etc.). The exact number will be given to you when buying a ticket.

Another important point: exits to the platform at Israeli bus stations are arranged differently from ours in Belarus. In fact, you are in the common room next to a long line of doors. When the bus you need arrives, the doors open and you go out onto the platform. Before that, you need to wait for the bus at one or another door.

Buses leave almost every hour. Exact timetable see website egged.co.il . Again, in December 2018, the first bus departed at 6:30 am. The last one is at 23:58.

On Saturdays, buses also run, but on Shabbat they are still several times smaller.

Road to Eilat

Travel time from Tel Aviv to Eilat is about 5 hours. Even a little more considering all the stops. The buses have Internet and USB sockets for recharging phones. But there are no toilets. Pieces of paper can lie under the seats and crackers half-eaten by someone crunch.

I counted two sanitary stops along the way. Each of them lasted 10-15 minutes. Toilets are all free. There are usually some restaurants nearby at stops (such as McDonald's and its less imposing counterparts). As elsewhere in Israel, the bus stops are quite dirty. But this did not bother me - on the contrary, it emphasized some special Middle Eastern flavor.

Speaking of color… Almost the entire road to Eilat runs along sandy cliffs. They look very picturesque, but my photos taken from the bus window are unlikely to be able to truly convey this.

Eilat bus station

The central bus station of Eilat is quite small, but not as dead as in Tel Aviv. It is located right in the city center at Shderot ha-Tmarim 12. It is about 1.5 kilometers from the sea, so you can safely look for housing somewhere in this area. Before the best beaches Eilat you still have to travel by bus. But I will tell you about this in detail in another article with a story about our impressions of a trip to the Red Sea in Israel. If interested, click here.

Coastline most southern city Israel, which is located relatively far from the central and northern cities of the country, encircles the northern part of the Red Sea. The city is surrounded by a desert area, the development and development of which is not an easy task.

The subtropical climate with hot and dry weather characteristic of deserts has never contributed to the unhindered development of this region. But, thanks to the selfless work of the Israelis, Eilat gradually turned from a small town into a flourishing developed city. Today, Eilat is a world-famous international resort center with magnificent and a port with developed infrastructure and industry.

Such a route, taking into account the time spent on air registration, will not last longer than a traditional bus route. On one of the beaches Dead Sea, usually, the bus stops, and passengers have enough time even to be in time, "roll" in the healing sea mud and swim in the "heavy" water. In the Negev desert, travelers are waiting for bizarrely curved mountain ranges, the mystery of craters and the diversity of landscapes.
