Transfer from Nha Trang to Da Nang by bus. Not without adventure

The road, as you can see, is not the closest, but it's worth it.

Many tourists visiting exotic countries, do not want to stay in hotel rooms and lie on the beaches for the whole vacation, which leads to the popularity of excursions organized by the tour operator or special agencies. Those who remain here long term or not the first time visiting the same country, often prefer independent trips less popular routes. So, Vietnamese guests who are satisfied with Nha Trang or Mui Ne often make a trip to the city of Da Nang.

What attracts tourists to Da Nang

The popularity of Da Nang among travelers vacationing in Vietnam is not accidental, as this popular resort offers them a whole range of entertainment, in particular:

  • The impeccable beaches with clean fine sand are among the best in the world.
  • A real paradise for fans of surfing and kiting.
  • A large number of historical sites, reflecting both the ancient culture of Champa and the remnants of the French colony, and the intersection of the two cultures fascinate tourists.
  • The city, located almost at an equal distance from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, has the unofficial status of the third capital of the state, and is the 5th metropolis of Vietnam in terms of population. The authorities of the country hold here international meetings with the leaders of other states, which is why the central streets are very clean, the facades of the houses are well-groomed, and the central embankment is ideal for walking.
  • In addition, last year a unique attraction was opened here - the panoramic pedestrian Golden Bridge, built at a height of more than 1.4 km and supported by pillars stylized as huge hands, which creates a mythical effect, and this object has already attracted millions of tourists from all over the world.

The Golden Bridge is a truly magical place

Thus, although Da Nang cannot boast of the same developed infrastructure for Russian-speaking vacationers as Nha Trang, it is still worth visiting once in a lifetime without regretting a trip.

Da Nang is located more than 500 km north of Nha Trang, and there is a long way to get there. Everyone who wishes to visit this city, being on popular resort, can get to it in one of the following ways:

  • For those who want to minimize travel time, a regular VietJet flight flies from Cam Ranh Airport, which transfers the traveler from Nha Trang to Da Nang for 500-600 thousand VND, covering the entire distance in less than 1 hour (the price is valid for January 2019 of the year). So, if you book round trip tickets on time, and know exactly what to visit on the spot, then the tourist can meet the trip in one day.
  • For a more relaxed stay, lasting at least 2 days or more, travelers can take the train departing from Nha Trang Station and following to the destination station in Da Nang. Depending on the type of carriage, a ticket will cost from 400 thousand VND and more, and the travel time will be about 9 hours.
  • Almost the same amount of time will have to get on the popular Vietnamese transport for intercity communication - "slipbus" - a bus with lying places arranged in 2 tiers, and a ticket for it will cost 300 - 350 thousand VND. However, you can always choose an evening flight and spend time in a comfortable sleep without noticing the long road.
  • If someone wants to use a taxi, he should be warned that the trip will not be much shorter than on the "slipbus", but will have to part with at least 10 - 12 million VND for a round trip.
  • Lastly, for the most desperate travelers, bike rental is available, after which they can go on a long journey for the whole day, overcoming a difficult road along the coast, about 540 km long, without turning anywhere, and after 12 - 15 hours they will finally reach the goal. However, the road is quite dangerous, as there are heavy trucks, buses and cars on it, which rarely respect motorcyclists and do not pay attention to their safety.

If you have already managed to visit Da Nang, please tell us about your journey from Nha Trang and share general impressions from this trip on our website.

Most of all, the children were waiting for the trip to Nha Trang, they were just burning with impatience after the story about winpearl park. Watching YouTube made things even worse. :) And so, saying goodbye to Da Nang, its amazing marble mountains, we went to Nha Trang on a slipbus, read how it was.

By train

The only time I traveled by train in Vietnam was from Da Nang to Hue. The train was not significantly more expensive than the bus, but it was faster. Further, my husband and children traveled exclusively by buses. It's all about the price.

Trains to Nha Trang run constantly, you can easily choose a suitable night or day crossing. A minimum of 9 hours will be needed on the road, although trains in Vietnam may be delayed. To make the trip not only fast, but also comfortable, you need not make a mistake with the choice of place. On the cheapest places it is difficult to drive 9-16 hours.

I advise you to bypass the first two categories, it is better then to buy a ticket for slipbus. These are the ngoi cung dieu hoa or ngoi cung seats, which means traveling on wooden benches, and the ghế phụ seats - soft seats, but the cars are old. In general, SE lineups are newer than TN, but prices are correspondingly higher.

Further, in the parade of Vietnamese cars, places ngoi mem dieu hoa participate, in our opinion - first class. Soft chairs, sometimes even made of leatherette, not greasy fabric, there is air conditioning, but the cost of tickets immediately increases by 2 times compared to the previous categories. And the last, most preferred and expensive places for a long journey - a compartment for 4 and 6 people (nằm khoang 4 điều hòa, nằm khoang 6 điều hòa). This is perhaps the most ideal option: a night move, a relatively healthy sleep, and if you also buy the compartment completely ...

Train Station in Da Nang you will find here:

In Nha Trang, trains arrive here:

Buying tickets

Train tickets are sold on this site, only rarely are our cards suitable for payment. You can also buy tickets at the box office at the station and in guesthouses, where you can buy a ticket online for an additional fee.

Ticket price

Tickets for the cheapest seats cost 450-500 thousand dong (16-18 euros). In the first class - 700-750 dong (24-27 euros). Seats in a compartment are the most expensive, costing 800-1100 thousand dong or 28-40 euros, the price depends on the shelf.

By bus

If your budget does not allow you to scatter millions of dong, I recommend looking towards slipbashes. I won’t even compare it with wooden benches, but, unlike a regular chair on a train or bus, slipbashes are still more convenient.

Slipbuses are tourist-oriented buses of travel agencies, and, indeed, you can meet travelers from all over the world in the cabin! The slipbus ride will take 12 hours, now more about the schedule.

These buses depart from the bus station:

And in Nha Trang they also come to the bus station:

Buying tickets

Tickets for the Hanhcafe bus can be bought at the representative office, for Futabus buses - at the bus station and on their website. They can also help with the purchase in the hosthouse, but for an additional fee.

Ticket price

A slipbus ticket costs 225-250 thousand dong (9-10 euros). Feel the difference?

By plane

Once a day, a plane flies from Da Nang to Nha Trang. The flight departs at 12:05 and lands at Cam Ranh at 13:20.

A shuttle runs from the airport to the city, the journey takes another 40 minutes. The final stop in Nha Trang is here:

Buying tickets

Plane tickets are sold on the Vietnam Airlines website. You can also always use the services.

Ticket price

Tickets cost from 2 million dong (70 euros). Travel by bus from the airport will cost another 1.8 euros.

By car

We didn't even think about renting a car. First, because of rights. In Vietnam, you can only drive a car with a license issued in the country, international ones are not suitable. We were not going to suffer for a week with the design of temporary ones. And secondly, the husband said that he would not drive at all, with such traffic on the roads it is better to take a taxi.

It impressed with its infrastructure and civility: there are many convenient transport interchanges, traffic lights that locals do not ignore (as in Nha Trang).

Big and beautiful Da Nang Civic Center

Da Nang has international Airport and a train station, so getting here is not difficult. Of course, you can also get to Da Nang from any city in Vietnam by slipbus - this will be the cheapest option. We came from Hoi An in a rented car. It cost only 250,000 dong ($ 11), and it took only about half an hour to drive.

Evening Da Nang is very beautiful

We were here only one day, so we did not have time to get to know the city well from the inside. But what we were able to see, we really liked. I wanted to live in Da Nang for a month or two, to change the familiar and already a little boring "Russian" to a more Europeanized resort.

Da Nang is the third largest (after Hanoi and) city in Vietnam. Here nice beach but few tourists. However, many cool hotels are being built on the coast, Danang will soon become famous resort. So far, mainly Europeans know about it, we did not meet Russian vacationers here. This is explained by the fact that you can only get to Da Nang on your own, package tourists are not brought here ( Russian tour operators have not yet mastered). It's for the best!

For Russian people, Danang is also notable for the fact that the Consulate General of Russia is located here. Apart from Da Nang, the Russian consulate in Vietnam is only in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

What to see in Da Nang? Despite the fact that the city is large, there are few attractions in it: the Museum of Cham culture (which we did not visit, because we have repeatedly seen similar museums at and), the Dragon Bridge and most recently opened.

The famous Dragon Bridge at sunset and the huge Sun Wheel behind it

Da Nang is also famous for the longest cable car in the world, 35 km from the city. It is even included in the Guinness Book of Records not only as the longest, but also the highest cable car in the world (you have to ride about 20 minutes at an altitude of 1200 meters). A cab ride costs 400,000 VND ($18). A little expensive, considering that in Nha Trang you can buy a ticket for 550 thousand VND and, in addition to a whole day of attractions on the island, also ride on cable car connecting Nha Trang with the island (by the way, it is the longest cable car in the world passing over the sea).

Dragon Bridge in Da Nang

There are 5 bridges across the Han River in Da Nang. Each of the bridges (except one, the northernmost one) is a work of art. There is even an analogue famous bridge in San Francisco (Thuan Phuoc Bridge).

Thuan Phuoc Bridge at sunset, it looks even cooler at night

But the most famous is the Dragon Bridge. This is the biggest pride of the inhabitants of Da Nang (it is understandable, because there are practically no sights here). This bridge was opened in 2013. Its length is 666 meters (a terrible number). American architects built the bridge, spending $ 88 million on the construction.

Twice a week, the iron dragon comes to life and an unusual performance begins: its mouth spews fire and water. This is an unusual spectacle, which is always attended by a huge crowd of tourists and local residents(they never seem to get bored).

The dragon lights up with all the colors of the rainbow!

The show starts at 21:00 every Friday and Saturday. Lasts about 15 minutes. To observe the revived dragon near the bridge there are special round viewing platforms. But it is on them that viewers fall under the dragon shower! We ourselves got wet to the skin and miraculously saved the camera.

Da Nang (Vietnam) Hotels

There are many expensive spa hotels in Da Nang, among which, according to reviews, the best can be distinguished:

But you can also find affordable housing. For example, we rented an inexpensive hotel Sea Wonder Hotel not far from the sea (although we didn’t go to the sea) for only $ 11 per night. Of course, it was not the most spacious room, but everything about it was new and pleasant. The price also included a delicious breakfast for two, and the child could sleep with us on a large bed at no extra charge. The hotel itself was very clean, quite large and well maintained. We can recommend it with confidence.
