Hello friends! We are dealing with an interesting topic - SV on a train. What is this - NE places? What class, what level of comfort, what services are provided by default and which are ordered for an additional fee.

A train ride is always romantic. But comfort plays an important role.

It is important to know, because tickets for the SV carriage are not cheap, so you need to understand what we are paying money for. If we talk about the CIS countries, then in comparison with the compartment, which is also considered to some extent comfortable, the SV is 2 times more expensive, and the Ukrainian railways offer a cost even higher at 2 and a half.

SV carriages belong to the first comfort class, capable of carrying 16 or 18 passengers plus a single compartment - the conductor’s workplace. On international flights the carriage is equipped with 22 seats or 33. The first option assumes the presence of exclusively 2-seater compartments, the second - 3-seater compartments.

Why are the first seats on the train attractive?

The abbreviation SV is interpreted as a sleeping car. But not just a sleeping room, because you can sleep in both a compartment and a reserved seat, the only question is how?

In SV you will not only sleep in conditions of increased comfort, but also enjoy additional benefits. These include:

  1. Places- lack of upper shelves. There may be 2 or 3 places.
  2. Interior- pleasant, expensive, well-groomed.
  3. Bed dress- fresh from natural textiles.
  4. Air— the latest air conditioning technologies.
  5. Hygiene— improved bathroom, set of hygiene accessories.
  6. Nutrition- breakfast, dinner. Lunch will be served depending on the availability of additional services.

Each passenger has his own individual space, there are comfortable chairs for sitting, ample space for clothes in the built-in wardrobes, mirrors are located on the door and on the walls.

This is what an SV carriage with a TV and a safe looks like

Valuables are hidden in a safe; you can while away your leisure time by watching TV. If you need a guide, he is called with a special button.

The SV car on the train may be different

The conditions for passengers are very attractive, especially if you plan to travel with children, the elderly, or small pets (they can also be transported to the SV). The desire to buy a ticket for the SV carriage on the train may fade only due to the cost. But smart solutions are also available here.

Maximum level of comfort - Lux

Here you are absolutely protected from random fellow travelers. Such carriages are used by management, high-ranking officials, and people with personal privileges. This category is usually called VIP persons.

Everything in the carriage is of the highest class, so the price is also high. But this is not SV! Don't be confused. This is a Suite, the most complete, comfortable Suite.

If you are a well-known politician, a popular show business star, or a major businessman, then the Suite with the following set of services is perfect for you:

  • separate bedroom;
  • increased (sometimes 2 times) compartment area;
  • minibar with alcoholic drinks;
  • plasma TV;
  • improved set of hygiene supplies;
  • comfort of the bathroom - shower and vacuum toilet.

Comfort in the Luxury carriage at the highest level

It’s very pleasant to travel in such a carriage, and as for the price, you don’t have to be a star, politician or oligarch. If you plan your trip in advance and buy tickets in advance within the maximum time allowed for this, then there is a high probability that you will be given a significant discount upon purchase.

What does compartment SV 1B mean on a TKS train?

You already know what SV is, and the abbreviation TKS means that transportation can be carried out not only by Russian Railways, but also by a private Russian company - TransClassService, which has a license from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and is distinguished by the highest quality of services.

SV 1B from TKS is a business class carriage. In addition to basic services, there are a number of additional ones:

  1. Extended meals (you will be provided with breakfast and dinner throughout the trip).
  2. A full set of hygiene items, including slippers.
  3. Tea, coffee, chocolate, mineral water are provided free of charge.
  4. The latest press, Wi-Fi, safe (access is provided via a magnetic card).
  5. You can power your laptop or phone using an individual outlet.

Such carriages are distinguished by an increased level of safety for passengers - there is constant video surveillance and 24-hour security.

Coupe 1B in a business class carriage from TKS

Buying 1B tickets from both Russian Railways and TKS has one feature - you need to buy a whole compartment, that is, all 2 seats.

What advantages does the SV 1E coupe have?

The rule for purchasing an entire coupe also applies to this SV class. The range of services here is similar to business class; in addition, 1E compartments have VIP status and are equipped with:

  • shower and dry closet;
  • plasma TV;
  • individual sockets;
  • safe with several keys;
  • shoe care products.

These are the super conditions your train trip can take place in. And then even the longest journey will not become tiring, provided that you pay for comfort.

You too can travel in such a cool VIP carriage

How to buy CB seats on a train at a lower cost?

Comfortable conditions at a more economical price can be obtained if you choose one of the options described below:

  1. RIC is a similar offer to SV, however, it is relevant only for international trains. In terms of comfort, it corresponds to class 1B, however, the seats differ in both lower and upper locations.
  2. SV 1U - 1st class service on the train, but Additional services not included. Only bed linen is available, which is provided to each passenger regardless of seat class.
  3. SV 1L - everything is the same as in the previous case, but there is no dry closet.
  4. SV 1E - luxurious conditions of class 1E and 1B, you have the right to buy only one ticket (no need to buy all compartments).

We can say that such an offer is a kind of luck - you won’t be able to buy it in advance, but if last-minute tickets appear on a certain route (there are too many empty seats in the NE car), then they can be bought at a very attractive reduced price.

Offer of seats in the SV carriage of increased comfort at a special price

Conclusion

What SV means on a train is clear - comfort, convenience, pleasant time in the carriage, an almost homely atmosphere, coziness. But at an increased cost. This is logical, because quality service does not come cheap.

Still, there are options in which you can afford such a pleasant trip in all respects for more low price. What do I need to do:

  • buy a ticket in advance (there is a possibility of a discount (from 40% and above), especially if the purchase takes place 2 months before the trip (at international destinations sale opens 90 days in advance);
  • Monitor the availability of tickets in the desired direction; perhaps there will be few passengers and the carrier will have last-minute offers available to them.

And further important point— in SV cars you can transport small pets in special containers. This is a significant advantage, because sometimes there is no one to leave our little brothers with.

And I'll go to SV

That's all, friends. Have a nice trip, comfortable places and interesting travel companions! Health and good luck to everyone!

Previously, in pre-revolutionary Russia - Svitsky.

This is a sleeping car that provides transportation of passengers in conditions of increased comfort.

The concept of “increased comfort” includes a smaller number of beds (their number can be from 1 to 3), comfortable soft shelves, a dressing room for storing clothes, basic and individual (for reading) lighting, etc. The space is divided into 9 double compartments, the number of seats is 16 or 18.

What is included? IN branded trains equipment and services provided to passengers may vary. In particular, the compartment can be equipped with a bathroom, safe and TV, and the ticket price includes not only the provision of bed linen, but also hygiene items and food.

According to the classification, it belongs to the SV (Lux) category, and is marked as a 1st class carriage.

Important! The classification of categories includes Luxury (Soft), also classified as 1st class, which creates some confusion for passengers. They assume more high level comfort, and it is for them that the term “Lux” is more suitable, which will be used in the future.

How are they deciphered by classification?

For SVs used in passenger transportation within the country, a division by service class has been introduced. It determines not only the list of services provided, but also the layout.

Explanation of abbreviations:

Purchasing tickets at the 1B ticket office involves purchasing the entire compartment(from this calculation the cost of the ticket is determined). Microclimate parameters are maintained by the air conditioning system. The package of additional services includes food and drinks, the latest newspapers, and the provision of hygiene products. Transportation of a container with small pets is provided.

Seats 1B are also available on branded trains of the Russian passenger railway carrier ZAO TKS. Tariff plan 1B "Business TC" implies the provision of a range of services, including:

  • meals along the entire route (breakfast and dinner);
  • hot drinks (tea, coffee, chocolate) and mineral water;
  • fresh printed publications;
  • bed sheets;
  • slippers;
  • travel kit - napkins (sanitary and paper), comb, toothpaste and brush, cream and shoe horn.

The compartment has a TV and free Wi-Fi. There is a safe and individual sockets for powering mobile devices and laptops. A magnetic card is used for access.

Seats 1E are provided in high speed trains"Strizh" on routes Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow - Berlin. They are air conditioned. For the safety of passengers, security is provided; control is carried out using video monitors.

What's in 1E? The dry closet, shower and washbasin are located directly in the compartment. In addition, individual sockets, a TV, and a safe are installed.

The fare includes meals, drinks, drinking water, bed linen and a traveler's kit (sanitary products and shoe care products).

Ticket 1E implies the purchase of the entire compartment (for 1 or 2 passengers).

1e - includes the entire set of services 1E or 1B. The only difference is that the passenger does not buy the entire compartment, but one seat in it.

1U service conditions correspond to first class, however, all additional services (except bed linen) must be purchased separately by the passenger. Persons who purchased a 1L ticket also receive the same conditions. The main difference is the absence of a dry closet.

For your information! All passengers are allowed to carry small pets in special containers.

On international routes you can purchase tickets for carriages of the RIC layout. According to the conditions of first class (analogous to SV), there are 10 double compartments with upper and lower bunks, an armchair, a bathroom and a washbasin.

You can see with your own eyes in the photo what it is and what real comfort means when traveling by rail:

Differences from other types

The main difference from other types of carriages is the level of comfort.

Comparison with reserved seat (open, II class) it wins in literally everything:

  1. isolation of space;
  2. width and finish of soft shelves;
  3. availability of everything necessary for comfortable travel– space for luggage and wardrobe, bathroom, seating, sockets, etc.;
  4. maintaining microclimate parameters at an optimal level;
  5. level of service.

If a long, more than 1-2 days, trip in a reserved seat becomes a real test, then in the conditions of the SV, as close as possible to the usual everyday conditions, it becomes an exciting vacation.

The price of tickets also differs accordingly - CB seats are 3 or more times more expensive than reserved seat seats.

Closed class II (compartment) is also inferior to the conditions of the SV. The main difference is the number of passengers. If it is not difficult to find a common language for a long trip with one travel companion (provided that the SV does not belong to business or VIP class), then a noisy company of 4 people in a compartment can turn the trip into an ordeal.

In order to give preference to first class carriages, both the level of comfort and the maximum range of services offered are important.

At the same time, the fare twice (at least) higher turns out to be not too high a price to pay for convenient and safe travel.

Comparison with Lux

Second only to the Lux class in terms of comfort.

The compartment area is 1.5-2 times larger than the standard one, a comfortable bathroom with a vacuum toilet, an individual air conditioning system, a safe, a TV, a DVD player, etc. are provided.

A lounge bar can be equipped directly in the carriage. For more high class service is also provided - the fare includes food and drinks, including alcohol, the latest press, an extended hygiene kit, etc.

The coupe can only be purchased in its entirety, which eliminates the possibility of random companions. However, this level of comfort costs 1.5-2 (and on some trains more) times more.

Conclusion

For those who want to travel in comfort and safety, they should pay attention to SV. They are distinguished by an optimal balance between the quality of services provided and the cost of tickets, as well as accessibility - such seats are provided on all branded trains of Russian carriers (Russian Railways, JSC TKS, etc.), operating both on long-distance domestic and international routes.

This carriage has increased comfort. It contains 9 double boxes. Usually all 18 places are lower.

REFERENCE: In the Swift, coupes have an upper and lower bunk.

The conductor's compartment is located at the beginning, and the toilets are located at the beginning and end. Drinking water available, general air conditioning.

SV in a standard train: photo

The berths are equipped with softer backrests than in a regular coupe. The entire furnishings are close to home: a comfortable table, a built-in wardrobe, an armchair, additional reading lights, a mirror on the wall and doors.

Also on the wall of each sleeping compartment there is a button to call the conductor.

The bathroom is wider than in a regular compartment or reserved seat. It is mandatory to have a dry toilet, which can be used throughout the entire journey, regardless of stops. There is a dispenser with liquid soap, toilet paper, disposable toilet seats, and paper towels.

The corridor is cleaned daily by a conductor. Another feature is the cozy interior: there is a carpet on the floor, curtains or drapes on the windows.

Moreover, the interior design will be excellent on different routes.

IMPORTANT: Part of the compartment in "Strizh" is sold as a whole, and 1 or 2 passengers can travel.

The ticket price includes meals, bed linen, and a sanitary kit. All this is provided by the guides. The shelves are located both on the lower tier and on the upper.

Inside there is a retractable ladder to the top shelf, a safe, sockets, and a screen for watching videos. Each compartment has its own bathroom with shower.

What does the SV 31 train look like?

The Russian Railways train number 31 or “Lev Tolstoy” provides for 4 SV and 1 luxury car.

You can see photos of the inside of the Lev Tolstoy train here.

If you have a long trip ahead railway transport, then it’s not worth saving.

By choosing such places, you will travel in comfort, enjoying your personal space, cozy atmosphere and scenery outside the window.

At the end of the year, I’ll tell you about my travel experience in luxury carriages Russian railways.

So, this summer I needed an urgent trip with my whole family (me, my husband and an infant child) from Sochi to central Russia. And due to the specifics of the direction, it was necessary to travel either by rail or by car. After weighing all the pros and cons, we came to the conclusion that we had only one option left - the train.

There was about a week left before the start of the trip. And you had to decide how to most optimally (comfortably and inexpensively) organize your trip? Agree, not every sensible parent agrees to play roulette and travel in a compartment familiar to everyone with all its risks, and even more so in a reserved seat. In the summer, trains in the Sochi direction are always packed, and therefore the chances of grabbing something from the set of “snore-socks-fumes-doshirak-nonsense-eggs-etc.” very large.

That’s why I started looking for a solution to my equation on the Russian Railways website, and within 5 minutes, clapping my hands with joy, I convinced my husband of the need to close his eyes to the price for the sake of the comfort offered. And I found a “Luxury Car”: http://pass.rzd.ru/static/public/ru?STRUCTURE_ID=5217

Here you have no neighbors, and a large bed (so comfortable for sleeping with a baby), and your own toilet with shower, and climate control, and much, much more. So much that I wanted to turn a blind eye to the cost of the ticket - 13,600 rubles per person one way! It’s good that we took it one way...

There was some kind of doubt inside that in the abbreviation Russian Railways R stands for Russian, which means everything can’t be so sweet. Well, okay, let's see...

But in the carriage, the first thing that caught my eye was that it was quite ordinary, and instead of the maximum of 5 promised compartments per carriage, there were them inside like in an ordinary compartment. I immediately thought - where did they hide the toilets then? Having entered my compartment and putting my things down, I realized that no one was hiding anything here - we are in USUAL compartment carriage, except without the upper shelves. But there was even a ladder to the top shelf! Where to climb it?!

Being in a bit of a state of shock, I checked the ticket, and it indicated in black and white that our carriage was a LUXURY carriage. All that remained was to find out the truth from the dear guide. And then it turned out that it was ours...SV! If anyone has traveled in SV carriages, he knows how it differs from a compartment - not only in the absence of an upper bunk. I opened the Russian Railways website on my tablet to make sure I wasn’t completely crazy. And then the conductor (apparently, this is not his first case) says: “Well, look here at the bottom of the page it says that Luxury class coupes are designated (attention!!!) by the letter M - soft. And this is your Luxury there is a regular SV." In response to my shocked “But this car is not an SV, but an ordinary compartment without upper shelves,” the conductor only skillfully spread his hands and said: “Well, whatever it is.” At that moment, all the anger that existed in me wanted to splash out on this dear man. But he has nothing to do with it. The place to look for traces is in the management of this red-and-white, crooked-armed monopolist. Thanks to the conductor and for the story about how and where to properly book a SOFT carriage!

As a result of this trip, we had to seal the air conditioner with a garbage bag several times so that the child would not freeze up (in the miracle car the air conditioner does not decrease and does not turn off when the outside temperature is above 25), stay awake all night and monitor the baby’s sleep (to fit with him on a narrow It is impossible to leave the bed unattended either - there are no handrails). The chef finished us off with his delights of student cuisine for a couple of thousand for two.

The result of the trip is a destroyed nervous system and a crazy night for (only) almost a thousand US dollars!

Thoughts about the return journey did not allow me to sleep peacefully for 2 whole weeks - it would be almost impossible for even seasoned parents to experience such stress again.
Therefore, using the conductor’s advice, we found another train with soft seats. The cost there was already entirely for the entire compartment - a little less than 26,000. And before the trip itself, I was confused by the fact that it was lower than the first tickets to the miracle SV.

But, having entered the carriage, we were able to exhale calmly - this was the same LUX! With a large bed (in fact, there was a second one almost the same), with excellent mattresses and linen, an armchair, a toilet with a shower, with climate control and heating (it got sharply cold in those days). And even though the carriage still resembled a mix of two such Soft coupes and the rest of the “SV type”, we rode calmly and with pleasure.

I was amused by 2 things: the first was the words of the boss of this railway that we are now in a mobile 5-star hotel (either he has never been to one, or he confused it with cognac); and the second is that at the end of the journey along the chain the air conditioner did not work, then the boiler or flush in the toilets (as soon as one thing was repaired, the second was immediately turned off - and so on in a circle).

So my advice, friends - when traveling by rail, be on your guard and don’t fall for the stupid baits of these monopolistic swindlers. And have a nice trip everyone!
