We are very pleased with our stay at the Golden Taurus aquapark Resort. We were in the first week of July 2019. We chose a hotel on the Costa Brava for a long time and made the right choice. The hotel is very good in many ways. Large area, four multi-storey buildings, 4 outdoor pools, one closed (clean and comfortable), water park. The first line from the sea, although it must be understood that on the entire many kilometers of the Costa Brava to Barcelona, ​​between the sea and the first line of buildings passes Railway with silent electric trains, like our "Swallows". But in this hotel (compared to all the others) the location of the buildings is such that they are separated from the road by the territory of the pools, which creates a certain comfort. We stayed in room 604 overlooking the pool and sea. The room is quite spacious (about 20 meters) with a good bathroom and a balcony. Noticeable fresh renovation, new furniture and plumbing. Towels changed daily, bed linen every 3 days. Maids are polite, cleaning is normal. Upon arrival in the bathroom there was a set of gels, soaps, shampoos, body cream, which was also replaced after 3 days, everything was enough (although I read in the reviews that the set is not changed!). We paid extra for the safe (for a week 20 euros + 10 euros refundable deposit). The sea is nearby, gorgeous, endless, the water is clear. Many wrote that the entrance to the sea on pebbles is inconvenient. Indeed, there are such places, but 15 meters to the left or to the right, the entrance will be quite comfortable. The beach is municipal, very wide, clean (!). Twice a week it was smoothed out with special equipment in the morning. There are always few people on the beach (which is surprising), basically everyone comes in the very heat, around 12:00. Service on the beach (sunbeds, umbrellas) is not provided, even for a fee. This is weird. But we were ready for it. Beach umbrellas have risen in price, they cost from 12 to 16 euros. It is better to leave them after the rest, as transportation by plane will be paid (25 euros). We did not even swim in the pools, as the sea was beautiful. Only one minus was noticed: the sunbeds are very close to each other, as there are a lot of people. About food at the hotel: we had breakfasts, dinners, we liked everything very much. At breakfast, a standard set of varied foods, fruits, juices, milkshakes, cappuccino, hot chocolate, champagne, etc. Previously, even in 5-star hotels where we rested, champagne was served only on weekends, but here every morning! And the fact that this is brut is the most for the summer suitable option. Dinners are always on top, for every taste: meat, fish and seafood every day, delicious hot pizza, fruits, four types of ice cream. There were very tasty shrimp, sweet watermelons and juicy pineapples. Beautiful presentation of dishes, canvas tablecloths and napkins, clean dishes. Drinks at dinner (as elsewhere) are paid: water 1.8 euros, beer 2.1-2.6 euros, wines on the menu. In general, the food is at a very decent level. In the evenings there were daily animated performances in great hall, but we didn’t go, as there were a lot of people, mostly those who rested on the all-inclusive system, many with children. In general, we were lucky with the contingent of vacationers, everyone behaved decently, did not shout, did not rage. Everyone at the reception is attentive and correct, ready to help, well done! We wanted to pay for a late check-out (the standard option is 42 euros until 18:00), it did not work out due to the lack of free rooms. But the hotel has everything for this case: free showers, luggage rooms, spacious halls and several bars. Even clean shower towels were provided for free, which was nice. In the evenings we walked along the promenade. The retro train drove around the neighboring towns of Calella and Santa Susanna. And, of course, we went to Barcelona on our own, on a comfortable train for 1 hour 10 minutes, the train enters the metro station at central square city, you go out and you can immediately transfer to two-story sightseeing buses(City-Bus or Bus Touristik), they have several routes, you can go around everything in a day and get to know the main attractions. It must be borne in mind that when returning by train in the evening, a lot of people gather at the station. Life hack: at the railway station it is more profitable to buy a touristik-bus and train return ticket for 30 euros, this includes round-trip travel to the railway and bus for the whole day. In general, the holiday was a success and the hotel is definitely recommended (a few negative feedback turned out to be just myths).

Towels were changed every day even though we made it clear that replacement was not required. The staff is friendly. In my opinion, in Pineda this is one of the the best hotels. The beach is close, large, the sand is coarse, but the entrance to the sea is steep, as in all of Catalonia. Shops nearby. To Barcelona a little over an hour by train (5 euros). Trains and buses also run to Figueres and Girona. There are cycling and walking paths along the sea. Within walking distance of Kaleila with beautiful rocks on the shore. Housekeeping is just awful. Repeatedly asked to be cleaned until 12 until the child lays down for a daytime sleep, the request was ignored. The balcony was never cleaned, even the floors were not swept. There is a layer of dust under the beds. The water in the pools and the water park is icy, there is no desire to go there.

Very bad wi-fi.

There is a spacious free beach next to the hotel! The best in the area. Great view from the balcony. The higher the better view. Our room was on the 8th floor - we enjoyed the views from our balcony. Pretty nice and comfortable pool areas. But beat. At 8:30 there is already a line of people wishing to take their seats. Pleasant water park. Always a bit crowded. Good organization of work. Liked the restaurant. A lot of fruits. Cava for breakfasts and good varied dinners. The hotel has several bars. It's good that the evening animation takes place not on the street under the windows, but in a bar inside the building. Therefore, there is no extra noise under the windows. This is important for those with children. Generally a family hotel. And everything is designed for large families with children. It is important that next to the hotel bus stops in different directions. And next to the train station to Barcelona and Figueres. The hotel has a large free parking for guests. It was very convenient.

Were at the hotel from 7 to 27 August 2013, two adults, two children - 3.5 and 12 years old.
We traveled from Natalie-Tours, I want to immediately thank this company for working with reliable airlines. It didn’t start very well, the flight from Moscow was on time, by Transaero, the board was large, comfortable (I don’t remember exactly, it seems like a Boeing 777-200), wide spaces between the rows, screens in the backs, the ability to check in online. However, after 20 minutes of flight, after a series of eerie sounds in the left engine, the plane was turned around and sent to land. All this time there was dead silence in the cabin, people were praying. Flight attendants - well done, were nearby and expressed complete confidence with all their appearance, there was no panic.
Thanks to the airline, literally 3 hours later we took off on the other side.
We were met by a transfer guide at the Barcelona airport and took the bus for about 1.20 hours to get to the hotel. What I didn’t like: the information from the transfer guide was not true at all points, in particular, it was said that hotel guide will be an assistant to us until the implementation of SIM - cards, plus a consultant on all issues. In real life, they were sent by a hotel guide to Calella to the sales offices of mobile operators, without any consultation.
By the way, the hotel guide - a certain Dimitrina, made the most negative impression, her main goal was to sell excursions, while when the question touched on the details, for example, when buying tickets to the water park, she consulted by phone, complete information did not possess. The Russian language is weak, there were confusions in terms. Attempts to figure out the way to attractions and supermarkets were limited to drawing a rough diagram on the map or recommending a taxi. Therefore, in the future, they turned to the reception, where everything was always explained in great detail. By the way, the services of the guide were used once when buying tickets to Marineland.
However, back to the rest.
Reception - that's who has never had any complaints and everything has always been very clear and high quality. Thank you girls.
There were always Russian-speaking people behind the counter, everyone spoke English very clearly, there were no problems. Settled in five minutes in the family building. Upon check-in, they paid a tax (about 14 euros) and took a safe and an additional key. Safe 55 euros + deposit 10 euros, key-deposit 5 euros. We lived on the 7th (last) floor. The room consists of two adjoining rooms, each approximately 12-15 sq. m., separated by a partition (excellent soundproofing) with a door. In one room there is a double bed with a mattress of medium hardness, in the second room there are three beds, the mattresses are extremely soft - you fall through. Two bathrooms (toilet, bidet, bathtub, sink, hair dryer, soap and water, mirror). Long balcony, with exits from both rooms, dryers and a table with chairs on the balcony. View: swimming pool + sea. Yes, in the rooms there are LCD panels, a wardrobe, in each wardrobe there is a safe.
The minus for accommodation is only because there were no ramps for wheelchairs in the family building, you had to carry it on your hands. In principle, it is not difficult, but somehow not thought out.
During the day - in the pool animation programs if the balcony is open it is very loud.

The hotel has several swimming pools, a small zoo (from idleness you can go), a mini club, a playground.
Nutrition. We took half board: breakfast + dinner. Well, in 20 days, you know, any food will become boring, but there are no particular complaints. Breakfast - vegetables, sausages, cereals, scrambled eggs, sweets, yoghurts, pancakes and a delicious omelet are made in front of you, I liked it. Yes, champagne. Liked it too.
Coffee - from vending machines, somehow not very good for me.
Dinners are varied, from time to time there are narrowly focused - such as Asian cuisine, Catalan cuisine. Fish every day, twice a week shrimp, mussels.
What I didn’t like: salty soups, from the point of view of the hotelier, the children’s table is mainly cutlets and fried potatoes, sometimes steamed carrots. There is no cash. Diet table - no. So if you are traveling with children, take something with you. We took instant porridges, which actually saved us. At the same time, the hotel is positioned as a family hotel, minus the ball precisely for the lack of normal children's and dietary food. Drinks for dinner are paid, a liter of sangria is 9.5 euros, a large mug of beer is 2.5, water is 1.5 euros (I could be wrong, the prices are plus or minus). The quality of drinks and food is without pretensions.
In the evening, when the flow is large, employees bring people to the tables, I liked it, I don’t have to go looking. All restaurant staff are extremely polite and helpful.

Since we took half board, we dined in the city. You can have a bite to eat right in the snack bar, in principle, tasty and not expensive.
Before talking about dinners, a few words about Pineda itself - this is such an urban-type village, with one souvenir street and basic infrastructure along the coast.
I didn’t like the town itself, the roads are broken in many places, the streets abound with “mines” from pets, of which there are many and for which the owners clean one out of ten, so be careful, look under your feet. You can eat, but everything is the same everywhere - fried chicken, fried meat, fried potatoes. Gazpacho - I liked it, it is different in every cafe. There are usually no other soups.
We have decided on two places for ourselves in the final. The first is the Maritim restaurant, how to exit the hotel from the sea side, to the left and about 15 minutes before reaching the souvenir street. Set lunch (first + second + dessert + drink (wine, beer, sprite, etc.)) 9 euros.
The second place is closer if you leave the main entrance, to the left - a minute and the Pepes restaurant! It is more expensive there, but much tastier, and there they could prepare dishes for children, such as boiled vegetables, and there were also soups. The downside is that only the hostess speaks English, who then actually served us.
In the evenings, this restaurant is full of locals and has live bands.
In Calella, everything is more interesting, and shopping and restaurants, and in general the infrastructure and the town itself. To be honest, I regretted that I did not rest there. There are three options to get from the hotel.
1. This is a train that runs every half an hour (by the way, in Calella itself there is a train that rides purely around Calella), our train rides along Pineda, it just calls in Calella.

There are a lot of people in the hotel, mostly English, Dutch, French and Spaniards. There are few Russians. The staff does not speak Russian (except for the reception) warning signs are not always duplicated. Accordingly, the animation programs were not designed for us, the maximum that was in Russian was a translation of the greeting. But, the programs are nevertheless interesting, the animators work to the fullest. Every evening after the work of the animators, the guest stars (as I understand it in honor of the 50th anniversary of the hotel) fireworks on Fridays.
The hall for the evening program is combined with a bar, there are not enough seats for everyone.
The compatriots did not particularly stand out, though one comrade, two meters tall, for about three minutes at the top of his voice yelled at his wife for the whole bar that she had left without him. Happenes….
Service.
By what principle does the maid work when she washes the floors, when she changes the towels, and when she forgets, we did not understand. The quality of cleaning did not change from the number of tips. They can enter the room with a "do not disturb" sign. But the low score for the service is not for this, but for the pools. Since the sea was cold, for the first week we chose the following schedule: in the morning, the pool, after a day's sleep, the sea. However, on the very first Saturday (we slept with an open balcony, the nights are not hot) at 6:30 in the morning we woke up from a strange sound. Looking out from the balcony, I saw this picture: two, appearance absolutely stubborn Spaniards of African descent, having pulled out a portable transformer from the booth, connected two Karcher-type water sinks to it and wash the territory with them. So he buzzed, and the walls of the hotel form a glass, so the acoustics are just fine. Everything is clear, cleaning is needed, but at 6:30 in the morning, with such noise .... Well, it's okay, so they wash, wash, and reach the pool. They washed all the dirt from the floor, about half a meter from the pool, into the drain holes of the pool itself. At the same time, these holes were filled with water flush with the pool itself. In fact, the dirt was washed into the pool. I even went down to look. We didn't swim in the pool anymore.
I don’t know how people didn’t get sick there, maybe some kind of complex cleaning system, but it’s somehow not professional.
In the morning, the attraction “take a sunbed” begins. There are not enough sun loungers for everyone, also a minus for the hotel. But there is a plus. If people do not come to the sunbeds before 11 am, Customer Service cleans the towels and thus frees up the beds for the afflicted. When I was a couple of scandals with the involvement of animators, rescuers and reception from the "victims". But from my point of view it was right.
The biggest disappointment is the sea. It is of course azure, of course the beaches are large. But the beaches are municipal-municipal, except for a lifeguard, a shower and a dry closet, there is nothing. The entrance, as they used to write, is steep, a meter - up to your waist, another meter - up to your throat. The waves are strong and pulling.
Although the water temperature was announced at 24 degrees, it felt like it was no more than 20-22. Apparently, because of the depth, the sea did not warm up. If in past years (Belek, Rhodes) it was impossible to pull children out of the water, this year the children themselves asked to come ashore. As I was later told that it was this coast that was so cold, and the Nordic peoples chose it, for them such water is a joy.
Later we found a more convenient entrance to the sea - through underground crossing, to the left until the next shower, where the descent is more gentle.
Weather: Out of 20 days, five days were rainy and overcast.
Trips.
We planned to go to Barca 5 times. However, everywhere there are nuances. The train goes about 1 hour 10 minutes, + walk to the station for 15-20 minutes, wait for the train from 5-15 minutes. In general, the road in one direction is about 2 hours. There are no words for electric trains - comfortable, fast, with toilets, air-conditioned. But, it turns out that the Spaniards go to work in the morning ), so the morning trains are packed. Starting from half past ten, more or less, you can even sit down, in the evening the last train is practically taken by storm. Therefore, upon arrival in the city, there were no children. Conclusion: not comfortable, nevertheless, we went three times.
We went to the advertised Mataro Park. We ask the guide how to go. The answer is by train, and then take a taxi. We ask at the reception. So, dear tourists, it's better to ask at the reception desk. They told me everything, we calmly took the train to the Mataro station, exit the station to the left, after 20 meters there is a stop, bus number 5. Runs every 15-20 minutes. Mataro Park can be seen, it is outwardly large. Inside, it is essentially Auchan with shopping mall, nothing special, like any Auchan on the Moscow Ring Road.
We went to Marineland. The whole family enjoyed it immensely. Three options for buses, we traveled at 11 o'clock. Unlike our friends who left at 9:30, they didn’t stand in line at all, they even managed to attend the dolphin show. We re-watched all the shows in the evening, they are duplicated. There are not enough “cheesecakes” for all the slides, it makes sense to rent for 10 euros. The food is expensive, we took a "picnic" at the hotel instead of dinner, there are special places for eating in the park - piknik area. There is a cafe.
General conclusions:
Before the trip, my friends said, here you will see the difference between holidays in Europe and in Turkey, Greece. I saw. Not for Europe. The hotel is not bad, but the cold sea spoiled everything. For tourist holiday you need to take hotels closer to the sights. Maybe I was just lucky before and I came across hotels in Turkey, Egypt and Greece high class, but the costs were commensurate, the service and food are not better.
I don't want to go to this coast. My family agrees with me.
