The choice of a resort for a vacation with a child depends on how many days you are traveling to Georgia and for what, in fact, the purpose. If you are traveling mainly for the sea - some places will suit you, but if entertainment in a noisy city is in the first place - you need others.

Tourism in Georgia

Tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Europe, Asia and even the United States go to Georgia to rest. Not surprising, because Georgia is a tradition, folk food, mountain nature, the sea and friendly people in one bottle. This country is suitable for family and company holidays.

Most visitors choose to rest near the water. The country washes Black Sea, the climate here is humid, subtropical... In the coastal part of Georgia, you can find resorts for every budget and taste.

Sunny Batumi

Where to relax in Georgia by the sea, if not in Batumi? This resort is located along the coast and is suitable for recreation if the visit to Georgia lasts less than 5 days. Advantages of Batumi in terms of recreation with children:

  • the city has a water park, a dolphinarium, a zoo and other entertainment for children;
  • there will be a number of markets and shops next to each hotel or hostel;
  • the city is safe;
  • many places for walking (parks, embankment);
  • There are many clubs and restaurants for parents to relax.

Such a developed infrastructure also gives rise to a lack of recreation in Batumi - not very clean sea... Top beaches for swimming: Iveria, Mandarin and My Black Sea.

If you were vacationing in Abkhazia before your trip to Georgia, you may have problems with entry.

During the tourist season (this is the period from July to September), the cost of rest can bite. The trip is relatively inexpensive during the fall months. Locals say that even in October, the sea in Georgia is warm.

Holidays in Gonio and Kvariati

Both of these the most beautiful cities located in the coastal part of Georgia. will suit you if your trip to Georgia will last at least a week. A distinctive feature of these resorts is the healing mountain air and crystal sea. Cons of both cities:

  • there is not much entertainment for children, as a maximum single playgrounds and trampolines;
  • underdeveloped infrastructure.

Beaches in this area pebble... The stones get very hot during the daytime, which can be uncomfortable. Another controversial nuance is the steep coastline. The coast itself is deep and goes down sharply by 1-2 meters. Some beaches can experience high waves and frequent storms.

For city rest, go to Batumi, the road takes 20 minutes and costs up to $ 0.5.

In Gonio, be sure to visit the famous eucalyptus grove and ruins of ancient castles... There are many diving sites in Kvariati, the seabed is very beautiful there. This is the options for cultural recreation end.

Ureki and Grigoleti

You can also go to these resorts for a vacation lasting from 1 week. Beaches in cities sandy, the sea is relatively shallow and the shore enters the sea gradually. Resort By the river known for its magnetic sands, which are able to cure many childhood diseases, diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the cardiovascular system, and even cerebral palsy.

The sea itself in the territory of these resorts is clean and warmer than in Batumi. You don't even have to book an accommodation in advance and look for it yourself right on the spot. In the private sector, every second house is rented out. There are several significant disadvantages of Ureki and Grigoleti:

  • a lot of mosquitoes;
  • not very clean coastline;
  • in summer, the beach is almost always packed with vacationers;
  • few shops and other virtues of civilization.

Ureki and Grigoleti- these are villages, not cities. It is not very expensive to rent housing there, but while resting there you will not be able to have much fun and walk somewhere. It is very often impossible to travel to Batumi for this purpose, the one-way trip takes about 1.5 hours. If you are visiting Georgia for the sake of the sea, these options are just right.

The city is not very far away Poti, it is a port city. There are more different shops and entertainment places. In extreme cases, you can go for a walk there.

Kobuleti

This city is very similar in structure to Batumi; it is the second most popular among tourists in Georgia. If you decide to go to Kobuleti- settle closer to the city center, there is nothing special to do on the outskirts. If the question of price is critical for you, you can rent housing very cheaply in the sleeping areas.

In every more or less large city in Georgia, you can rent a car, so it is much more convenient to move around.

There are a lot of beaches in this city, there are places for recreation with both very small and large pebbles. Of the pluses of Kabuleti:

  • there is an amusement park Tsitsinatela with a huge territory and a large number of attractions for children, adults and families;
  • many bars, restaurants, cafes;
  • you can rent a house for a variety of wallets and tastes;
  • there are playgrounds for children, cafes with animators and other entertainments.

In Kabuleti, the system of transport connections is very well established. Moving around the city is not inconvenient.

Green cape

In another way, this area is also called. It is not very far from Batumi - only 9 km.

This resort looks more like a tropical area, there is a very humid and warm climate. The promontory remains green all year round. The advantages of Mtsvane-Kontskhi are:

  • Here you can spend a lot of time with children, even in the hottest part of the day. Such a quantity of plants makes the air very clean and healthy; people often go to this resort to restore the respiratory system.
  • There is a very large botanical garden, your child will be able to see unique plant species.
  • The viewpoints offer views of the most beautiful landscapes.
  • Variety of beaches. On the green promontory you will find both small-pebble beaches for families with children and places for extreme rest with a steep coastline.
  • There is an opportunity to go diving and windsurfing.
  • The sea is very clean.

The area is adapted for recreation for both adults and children. Here you will feel very comfortable.

Shekvetili

This is a village located near the Ureki resort. This place is characterized by the same magnetic sands and forest groves that are present in Ureki and Grigoleti. Differences between Shekvetili and other resorts:

  • only cottages are provided for settlement (private owners will not be able to rent housing), you can rent a house in full or rent a couple of rooms;
  • it is much quieter here than in other resorts of Georgia;
  • relatively few tourists.

Shekvetili more suitable for those who like passive family vacations. If you are coming here, you need to buy food and everything you need in advance, because there are no shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance. If you have long wanted to escape from civilization and the bustle of the city, you will like Shekvetili.

If you go to Shekvetili, then when? The maximum water temperature is reached in August, rental prices this month are not very high, so the best option would be the end of summer and the very beginning of autumn.

Anaklia

This new resort is located in Western Georgia, 150 km away from Batumi. Anaklia received the status of a city recently and has not yet managed to survive the influx of tourists. Due to this, there are very clean beaches and the sea on the territory of the resort. Anaklia already has a fairly well developed infrastructure and transport connection inside the city. For family holidays, the resort has the following places:

  • amusement park;
  • hotels of various categories;
  • yacht club, where they order sea excursions or rent a yacht;
  • many cafes and restaurants.

There are no disadvantages of rest in Anaklia, except for one thing - since the city is new, this is not yet a thoroughly tested and studied territory by tourists. If this is your first trip to Georgia, it is better to go to Batumi or Kobuleti. In Anaklia, you should first go on an exploration without children.

Georgia is a song. A folk song, polyphonic, like an echo in the mountains; lyric melody "Suliko"; pathetic "Tbiliso"; full of everyday philosophy "Chito gvrito"; razdravaya "Taya-taya". This is a song about harsh mountains and sunny valleys, about soft shoti, rich khash and aromatic “Kindzmarauli”, about freedom, about hospitality and about a hot, even assertive love of life.

ABOUT tourist opportunities the songs of this country have not yet been composed, therefore - in prose: Vogue magazine called Georgia one of the most popular tourist destinations 2017. But family vacations in Georgia became popular much earlier, and from year to year it is only gaining popularity. Because is there any other place in the world where it is believed that guests are sent by God?

In our article you will read why this country attracts travelers so much. In the meantime, take my word for it: a vacation with children in Georgia is a unique experience.

Where is Georgia

Georgia ( official name Sakartvelo) is a state in the western part of the Caucasus. In the north it borders with Russia, in the south - with Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. West Coast washed by the Black Sea. The area of Georgia is 69.7 sq. km, population - 3.718 million people. The capital and largest city of the country is Tbilisi. A tourist trip to Georgia does not require a visa, however, for citizens of a number of countries, the visa-free stay is limited to 90 days.

Vacation with children

Children come to Georgia to sunbathe on seashore... They come and warm their hearts, meeting the willingness of local residents to help with advice, to treat the most delicious khachapuri in the world and settle in the best apartments (you need to be careful with this).

The country's tourist infrastructure is indeed largely supported by the hospitality of the locals. Here everyone rents out houses, apartments and rooms.

To relax comfortably with your child, it is better to stay at good hotel- these are becoming more and more, however, they are only in large resorts.

There are no specialized family hotels in Georgia yet. But if you are going to come here with a baby, a baby cot will be waiting for you in your room. The list of services for children is gradually expanding: hotels are equipping playrooms, offering babysitting assistance, and preparing a children's menu.

Rest in Georgia is not only the sea. A rough travel plan might look like this:

  1. See the mountains.
  2. Drink real Georgian mineral water Borjomi.
  3. Try the main dishes of Georgian cuisine and try to decide which tastes better.
  4. Learn the patterned Georgian alphabet to read bus timetables and country road signs.
  5. To understand why Georgians love to sing so much.

What is good for children in Georgia? Let's answer briefly: that's it. Bright sun, warm sea, fresh fruits, delicious churchkhela, healthy yogurt - this is how you need to heal. High mountains, wild forests, noisy waterfalls - this is what may surprise you. Playgrounds, unusual museums, amusement parks - this is where you can have fun. Surprise and have fun on your health!

When is the best time to go

There is no time of the year when Georgia is not good. But since tourists have special goals - most often to sunbathe and go on excursions, the best time for a trip is late spring, summer and the first half of autumn.

The swimming season in Georgia opens in mid-June and lasts at least until the end of September. But the beach season starts earlier: in May you can sunbathe on the Black Sea coast. It is good to come to Georgia with a baby in May, before the onset of the heat.

A vacation with a child at sea should be planned for May-June or September. During these months, you will not be bothered by the heat, the sea will delight you with its cleanliness, and the beaches - with little people.

This time is best suited for city excursions. In summer, the air heats up to + 40 ° C, but the warm days of spring or autumn are excellent conditions for walking in old Tbilisi.

But in the mountain resorts there is no heat. Here you can relax at a time when unbearable heat sets in on the coast. If you are going to the sea in July-August, then plan an excursion in the mountains to enjoy the coolness.

Among other things, the warm season is the season for fresh fruits. Already in May, strawberries are harvested in Georgia, in June - cherries and apricots, in July - peaches, melons, watermelons, in August - figs, pears, apples. In September, the time comes for the famous Kakhetian grapes, and in October the first pomegranates and persimmons appear on the markets.

And when is it better to go to Georgia to improve your health at balneotherapy resorts? Usually, wellness centers are open all year round although there are fewer visitors in winter.

Weather and climate

The climate of Georgia is heterogeneous. The western part of the country is an area of humid subtropics, where in summer the air temperature rises to + 30-35 ° C, and in winter it does not drop below + 2-4 ° C. In the central regions located at an altitude of 500-800 meters above sea level, the summer heat is somewhat milder, and in winter there are slight frosts.

Eastern Georgia is distinguished by low air humidity, record-breaking hot summers (temperatures can reach + 40 ° C) and mild winters. Well, high mountainous areas and they do not know the heat at all, but the winter there is frosty and snowy. In the mountains with a height of 3-5 thousand meters, snow lies constantly.

The resort season in Georgia is considered to be the period from May to September-October. At this time, you can sunbathe by the sea, relax in mountain balneological resorts, go on excursions. But a vacation in Georgia can also be planned for the winter months, when ski centers in the north of the country are open.

Season opening at seaside resorts Western Georgia falls in May, when the air temperature rises to + 19-20 ° C. In June, the air warms up to + 23-24 ° C, and in July-August average temperature is + 26 ° С - while daily indicators often exceed the + 30 ° С mark.

In September, all the conditions for better rest in Georgia with children: the air temperature drops to + 24-25 ° C, and the sea remains very warm. Often the beach season continues in October, although the air usually cools down to + 20 ° C by mid-autumn.

A feature of the western regions of Georgia is frequent rains. The least precipitation is in May.

The weather in Eastern Georgia, including Tbilisi, is not much different - but the humidity here is noticeably lower, and therefore the heat is more easily tolerated. But still July-August, when the temperature can stay at + 35-40 ° С for a long time, cannot be called a good time for city excursions. The rainiest time in Tbilisi is May-June. In September-October, it rains very rarely.

In mountainous areas, it is much cooler in summer. In the hottest months, the daytime temperature barely reaches + 25 ° C. In late spring and early autumn, thermometers show + 19-20 ° C.

Georgia is characterized by a significant temperature drop during the day. In spring and autumn, the night air temperature can be as low as + 13-15 ° С, in summer + 17-20 ° С.

The season at ski resorts begins at the end of November, when the daytime air temperature drops to -1-2 ° C. In January-February, frosts can reach -6-7 ° C.

The skiing season lasts until the end of March, when the thermometers begin to rise above zero. In winter, snowfalls are frequent in the mountains, while the days are sunny and calm.

Sea water temperature

You can sunbathe in Georgia already in mid-May. But the swimming season begins only in June: at the end of spring, the sea temperature reaches only + 17-19 ° C, but in the first month of summer the water warms up to + 22-23 ° C. In July-August, the water temperature in Georgia rises to +24 -25 ° С, and if the weather is hot for a long time, then the sea heats up to + 27-28 ° С.

The water temperature in September depends on the weather. If September is hot, then until the end of the month the sea will maintain a temperature of + 25 ° C. If there is no abnormal heat, then by the end of September the water will cool down to + 22 ° C.

It happens that in October the sea remains very warm. But, as a rule, the water temperature gradually drops and by November it is only + 18-19 ° C.

Food

Georgian cuisine is praised - and it still deserves praise. But when going to Georgia with a child, it is worth remembering that food in this country is generously salted and seasoned with spices.

It will not necessarily be spicy, but nevertheless, new dishes should be offered to the child with caution. Do not be afraid that the child will remain hungry: restaurants always have the usual side dishes, and the child will not refuse to cook food without spices.

What the child will definitely like is pies: khachapuri - even in Adjarian, even in Eti, even in Megrelian, achma, kubdari with meat filling and lobiani - with bean. The child will not refuse traditional Georgian desserts: kozinaki, churchkhela and pelamushi (this dish can be called a semi-finished churchkhela).

As in many countries, in Georgia it is worth choosing the restaurant where they gather locals... We also advise you to study the reviews of vacationers. It should be warned that smoking is allowed in Georgian restaurants, although a law banning smoking is expected to be passed.

Not every child is ready to try new dishes, and in this case hotel restaurants will be a good lifesaver. As a rule, they offer dishes of European cuisine, and the buffet is often served.

However, note that the “all inclusive” system is not applied in Georgia. A special children's menu is also a pleasant exception rather than a rule.

If you are planning independent rest in Georgia with children and want to cook familiar food, it is better to settle in large cities where there are supermarkets and markets. The quality of products in supermarkets is quite high, and the markets sell vegetables and fruits grown in Georgia, local cheeses, fresh meat and fish.

Baby food is sold mainly in pharmacies, sometimes in large supermarkets. The choice is not very large: several well-known manufacturers and Georgian products. If the child is accustomed to a certain type of food, we recommend that you bring the mixture, porridge or puree with you.

Treatment

The resort potential of Georgia is impressive. During the period of the USSR, there were a lot of sanatoriums that used all the natural resources of the region: a warm sunny climate, mountain air, black sands, thermal waters. The sanatorium base is gradually being restored, while mainly in the form wellness centers at hotels.

Treatment programs in hotels are designed for adults only, but the sun, air and water - the main factors of health - are available to everyone, regardless of age.

Wellness centers operate in Borjomi, as well as in the neighboring resorts of Likani and Nunisi - they produce water that is as curative as the famous Borjomi.

Abastumani, Surami, Sairme, Nabeglavi, Zvare, Tskhaltubo are famous for thermal springs. And how not to mention the sulfur springs of Tbilisi, enveloping the city with a specific aroma?

Transport

When traveling in Georgia, you can safely rely on public transport. It is most convenient to travel between large cities by train, between small towns and villages - by bus or minibus, within the city you can use a taxi.

Buses are the most common and cheapest form of public transport in Georgia. A ticket from Tbilisi to Batumi, for example, will cost 20-25 lari, depending on the carrier.

Approximately the same fare in a minibus. You can get from Batumi to Kobuleti for 5 GEL. There is a timetable at bus stations major cities and in smaller resorts it can be found at tourist information centers.

A train ticket will not cost much more. Thus, a ticket for the Tbilisi - Batumi express train costs 25 lari. If you are traveling with a child under 10 years old, then traveling by train will be even more profitable, since children under 5 years old have the right to travel free of charge, and tickets for children from 5 to 10 years old are sold at a discounted rate. In buses, discounts for children are not provided.

The most expensive form of transport in Georgia is a taxi. The road from Tbilisi to Batumi by taxi will cost GEL 240-270. Cars are not equipped with a meter, so you need to negotiate the cost of the trip with the driver in advance.

Taxis are relatively inexpensive within the city. So, before the desired hotel or a museum in Tbilisi can be reached for 3-6 GEL. Public transport is available only in large cities... The fare in it costs 0.40-0.50 lari.

If you are going to travel a lot, it is convenient to use a car to get around Georgia. Car rental companies have offices at airports and major resorts.

Warm city ("tbili" in Georgian - "warm") - you cannot call it otherwise, because from the weather conditions to the character of the people living here, this city is saturated with hospitality, warmth and attention to neighbors. Tbilisi is original, it is beautiful with its antiquity and its wrinkles, "not lacquered" facades, cracked pavements and Italian courtyards filled with children's laughter. He has his own history, his own life, his heroes and his traditions, his achievements and his victories. Old two-story houses with carved wooden balconies, the facades of which are often entwined with grapevines (fancifully running along the cracks), real Georgian small courtyards with their own unique atmosphere - in all this you can feel the spirit of old Tbilisi. Here, in the courtyards, men play backgammon, clothes are dried on the clothesline, and children can hear the laughter of boys playing football. It is a pleasure to wander through the old city, along the quiet streets, to find unusual front doors, to notice outwardly inconspicuous, but very colorful details.
